Well i started my trek to westiva... pretty uneventful except for a near miss with a deer just outside of saskatoon...Now I know the brakes work good at least....

Well here's some pics of the trip so far...

oh and i stopped at a scale and weighed in with the cooler and camping gear and myself at 1080kgs and 980kgs with out me in the car....ya i am little chubby...lol

thanks... they are 15s with 195 45s on them... and they rub the rear quarters when i hit big bumps.... lol...

What suspension do you have? Maybe it's time to switch to a coilover....hehehe! it will help a lot especially at the rears!

I had no idea your part of the country was so flat! That reminds me of the panhandle of Texas.

And I love your car, especially the shaved door handles; looks sharp!

According to an online convert-O-tron, I see that 1080kgs is 2376 lbs. (kgs x 2.2 = lbs)

Here's some more to whet your appetite....

Had a great time today at Westiva2010. A total of nine Festivas made and six of them were white! Kinda gives a new meaning to "Great White North" doesn't it? Those that made it were Brad and his dad, Keith (littlehoe and zeke); Mike (sasquatch) how rode out with Aaron (aaronbrook); Tommy (tommychu) and his partner Shea (sorry if I spelled you name wrong); Mike (mikeycar500); Sheldon (hermit); Scott (leapin); Gary (not on the forum... yet, he saw the info in one of the local papers); and myself, my wife Sharon and three of the kids.


Gary's car is the white on on the far right. It's a '90 LX which he's had since new. ther'a just over 300,000km on it and has all the LX goodies on it. He even had an original dealer brochure to show us.

As we were leaving the Wedge Pond parking lot someone asked "What's with all the clown cars?". Another fellow asked me if our "Fiestas were the same as a Mazda." Both my car and Scott's have the Mazda logo in the grille.

Another older couple came over to say hello. It turns out that they had owned a Festiva for 16 years and were pleased to see that there was still some respect for them. I'm not sure whether they just happened by or saw the blurb in the paper.

Rockauto sent me a couple of gift certificates, along with some other little goodies, to hand out. One of the went to the longest distance and the other to the "fan favorite". Mike (mikeycar500) won the long distance award hands down... over 3200km one way! Brad's car got the most votes so he got the second prize. If I had a third one it could of gone to Aaron for the highest odometer reading at just over 501,000 km.

I know I had a great time and the weather turned out really nice in spite of the forecast. I'm already looking forward to next year so mark July 16, 2011 on your calendars!

its to bad gary isnt on here, id like to thank him for following behind me on the convoy and the ride home back to calgary, i dont know if you guys noticed as i was last in line but my fuel injector harness buggered up on me and i stalled pulling away lol, quickly popped the trunk slapped the fuel injector harness, checked my fusible links and battery connection and sped off to join the convoy. i think the problem is the wire is resting against the engine, gets hot and then cuts out, either that or i need a new harness, either of which is no good was nice to meet you all, and to know there is help close by! sorry my car was a bloody mess i ran short on prep time after staying up till 11pm the previous night putting new tires on so i could make it definitely worth the trip, and i got way better mileage with the new tires. and it was nice to drive more then an hour and not feel like a cerebral palsy patient from the constant wiggling of the steering wheel haha. got lots of ideas for my festy now after seeing all the nice rides.

i'd like to inquire about buying a spot of land on the top of one of those mountains if they can insure there are NO PHONES/TVS/INTERNET
