Just got this lil spike this morning... spent almost all day on Monday out, only saw a glimpse of one, at quite a distance, running. So I was just glad to get something this morning, and the young ones are always nice and tender

Its a marlin XS7 in .308, with a nikon 3-9x40 mounted on it. I've always hunted deer with a shotgun + slugs, but the range and accuracy isn't very good. My dad bought this for me as a graduation gift, we both did a ton of research and it seemed like the best bang for the buck. the .308 loads are more than enough for the stuff we get around here (including bear) and they are more accurate than a lot of the other common hunting loads. The marlin, while a cheap price, was also supposed to be a very good gun - my last group out of the box of 20 I used to sight it in was <2" across and almost dead on the center @ 100 yards... with cheap Remington core-lockt amo. I'm happy with it!!~Nate

Skeeter unfortunately all the deer in my area look like that one you got but less meat on them. People come up to our state forest land that is right behind the house and over hunt it horribly. I am not even hunting this season. Too much to do and haven't gotten a deer in 5 years anyways. Good luck all you hunters. Wish they all looked like those Wyoming deer.
