  • Got Ice Pictures?

    Aqua says, "brrrrrrrr..."

My sidewalks are solid ice, except for some water, which I'm sure will turn to ice by tonight.

Show us your icey pics, with or without Festivas. I know you got 'em!

Crap!!! Keep those Festies safe, everyone. Drivers as well.:p

Nothing here yet, just a bit of sleet last night. Already melted off.

Fresh, those are beautiful, but dangerous looking! All we got here so far is some ice, now sleet. No snow yet. Only a matter of time before we do.
I went hunting one time down by Fredericktown, Mo. An ice storm moved in on the way down. Got caught in it. Freezing rain hitting the windshield, would hit and freeze immediately on the windshield. The drops would hit and and be like 1 1/2 wide x 2 long instant ice. Couldnt keep windshield clear, and on the off ramp to the area, a semi had jack knifed, blocking the whole ramp. Couldnt stop at all. My buddy and I had taken his F150. We were heading right into the truck, when we noticed that there was, maybe, a gap wide enough to fit the F150 thru, behind the truck and the guardrail. Ron, my buddy headed for the gap. Here we go! Slid right thru that gap, slamming the mirror on the passenger side (my side) into the truck door, with maybe an inch on Ron's side and the guardrail. Whew! That was close!
Well, we were almost to our spot, so we headed on. (hardcore hunters!)
When we arrived at the spot, it had quit with the freezing rain, and we got out into one of the most beautiful scenes one could ever imagine!
The wind had been blowing pretty good while it was doin the freezing rain, and it had coated EVERYTHING, in the clearest ice ever, and because of the wind, there were no ice cicles. Everything was evenly coated top to bottom in the clear ice. An absolute wonder of nature. So beautiful it was awe inspiring. It was like everything had been coated in glass, the exact same thickness on bottom, sides, and top. We didnt hunt long, it was ..crunch..crunch..crunch..everywhere. So we just walked around and enjoyed the views and headed home after they got the roads salted.
It was a adventure for sure!
                  Dan

                    Nice pics, Fresh!

That's a cool story, Dan. I love the idea of hunting, up until pulling the trigger. Some day I'll go though.

Thanks! Nothing like a good adventure! After the trigger pull, then the work begins!
