Yesterday the temp was 70ish then dropped about 50 degrees. Was out for a walk when the cold front moved through causing storms to the east of me. I saw this amazing pink thundercloud at sunset and ran to the house for the camera. By the time I got back it had greyed quite a bit and only the top was pink. Also the picture blurred. Not sure why digital cameras blur when the light is bad. Anyways here is what I ended up with. The second pic is in the opposite direction towards the west. Wished Id had the camera with me on the walk. Not a gottafesty pic but I tried.

I would imagine that like an SLR, a digital camera needs a longer shutter time to capture more light. You May have moved slightly before the picture was shot. Next time walk around with a tripod. :-)

Marcus, I had the exact thing happen to me. I was out working on my Bronco at the time, stood up and there were all these clouds that looked like waves on an ocean, and they were bright, bright, deep gold! Covering the whole sky just before dusk. Ran in to get the camera, and in the 30 seconds it took to get it, it was almost all gone. Caught part of it as you did, but all its glory was just about done.
I'll have to see if I still have it (real film) and if its good i'll scan it to the computer.
