                  Nice.

Are you trying different ammo types (including lots of subsonic and target) to compare groups? Some .22s like certain ammo much more than others. It's your job to find out which brands shoot best.

You know about adjusting parallax on that scope, right?

You're also doing plenty of shooting offhand, right? I like shooting at pop cans from standing at 100 yards. Good practice.

Very nice! I've been considering a bi-pod for my Marlin .308... the problem is in the field it would only really be handy 1 in every 5-10 shots. I just got it last spring - I took two deer with it this fall, one from my tree stand (20 yards) and another at about 100 yards free standing. I really like the way it shoots, and I was able to put a group in <2" at 100 yards with the first box of ammo I put through it. Its got a Nikon 3-9x40.

I would *really* like to find a relatively cheep (used) Browning Buckmark .22, preferably with the shortest (4.5") barrel... because I want to put the 7.25" Tactical Sol barrel on it and use it for plinking/squirrel hunting. Just haven't found one yet :/

Very nice! I have a Savage just like it, except I think mine originally came from Wal-Mart because it doesn't have the Accu-Trigger. I added a Center-Point 50mm illuminated ret scope, but it's too heavy and I want to down size. I don't care for the factory stock either...It is slightly too short & needs a cheek rest for optimal scope viewing. I want to get one of these (see link below).

after a few rounds of sighting it in i got a few good hits... i need to work on my breathing and working my eye so it will stop twitching after 10 min of shooting... i had a hard time with these targets cause my eye and cheek was twitching away and shaking lol... but i gave it my best shot :p bad pun

the tape was gonna be for sighting it in but never shot on them lol...

two of my better shots before my eye started going crazy while sighting it in...

all shot at 25 yards indoors...

and ya i have been doing a bunch of research on scopes and have been reading about parallax and all that scope talk... very confusing but very interesting, i spent a long time searching around for a scope... and i think i chose the wrong one, i would like to get one with a bit higher zoom maybe like 4-16x50 or somthing... but ill give it a while before i go and spend the $$$...

I would not recommend a 50mm objective. That's what I have and I don't like it. It's too big & heavy, and ruins the light weight advantage of the Savage (IMO). Plus, it requires extra high scope mounts, which is another issue. There really isn't any good quality ones to fit the .22 rail that are readily available. Even the highest ones barely clear, and the flip-up lens cover still hits the barrel when you adjust the parallax (which sucks). The lower the mount, the better off you are for sighting accuracy & comfort. The stock is pretty small, and I have to lift my cheek off the stock to look through the scope due to the high mounting. 40mm is about as big as I would go. I'll post pics of mine later so you can see what I mean.

Agreed on the large objective lens. Unless you plan to just sit shooting off a bench all day, it would be nice to maximize the portability of any scoped rimfire package.

I'd tend to go with something like the Simmons ".22 Mag" scopes which are adjusted for short range parallax correction. These are also quite reasonably priced, usually well under $80. If you really want to spend money though, go extra quality. I'm sure Swarovski would be very happy to take a thousand bucks from you for a nice overdone tube.

There may also be some smaller AO scopes that are a better fit on the rifle, too. Someday I want one of those for either my Savage/Stevens M434 or another of my rimfire rifles.

I just looked in a nearby flier and Simmons has a 3-9X 32mm AO .22 Mag version for around $60. Hmmmm, sounds like one I should get. Here's a link:

Read the reviews (some complaints about the rings that come with them) and if you want more quality, go for Nikon or Leopold. Also, the site does not seem to have much product info, so you might have to look elsewhere for that. (The AO .22 Mag was almost 13 inches long according to the first reviewer.)

One idea I like to stress is "simplicity." For example, I am modernizing my M1 Carbine with an Ultimak scout mount and scope. I chose a Burris 2X handgun scope to put on it with Warne QD rings. I haven't shot it yet, but it seems to mount well to the shoulder and is not too large. If it breaks, off comes the scope and I have my irons.
