  • The engine is in

Been pretty busy this week getting the motor and tranny ready to install. Stuck it in today alone without scratching anything. It was much easier when I 1st installed the motor and wasn't concerned about the paint. Should move under its own power sometime this week.

Clean looking install. Nice touch painting the distributor cap.

With the header and the free flow intake you should be close to the HP output of a stock B6T.

Question: What is the large rectangle in your intake after the VAF and before the throttlebody?

The BP's are 127 HP stock, I am guessing that with my exhaust and intake it will be around 140 HP? The exhaust is 2.25" and no cat.

Not sure whats the reason for that box, it came stock on the escort gt. The idle air supply hooks up there. Most cars just have a port. Maybe it acts as a baffle?

looking good, get rid of that intake box its useless. We have done alot of intakes on those motors and we just toss them for a pipe. You need some wires and a good coil don't you think? Maybe a MSD or Mallory ignition module?

                    Thanks

                      box

the square box is an intake resonator, it quiets the intake sound a bit, you may actually want to keep it, studies have shown on the miata page that an intake resonator, (depending on the application) sometimes helps low end torque and removing it will add a bit to top end hp, but you could lose a bit of low end torque. Your choice, but you may want to test it yourself if you have a g tech or dyno, and see what difference it makes and what you prefer.

Your car, I have to say, is coming out very sweet man. The color is sweet and I love the black/jazz blue theme you are going for there. Everything is also very clean. You might want to think about getting some black wire loom when you are done with the engine compartment and covering all the wires. That will give it a nice clean look and doesnt look rice when it's black.
