  • A new home for Mabel

A little background first: A while back I sold a 90 L plus to FF member Taz. He got it for his son but he liked the car so much he then wanted one for himself. So FF member Sensei sold him an 89 auto that he had. Well, his wife liked the 89 so much she claimed it! LOL So there's poor Taz, still without a car of his own....until this one popped up in the For Sale section a few days ago

Taz and myself went to Virginia Beach to pick this car up yesterday. I got a chance to hang out and talk to Jay (Kartracer46) for a while and he told me some of the history of the car. Turns out it's one of Dean's cars that Jay helped bring back to life. That upped the cool factor exponentially. So, after 15 hours and about 720 miles we got her back to NC. I got a chance to work on her a little today. She had a little tick on cylinder #3 so I replaced the rocker rail with one out of the head on my 93 since I replaced it's motor with an Aspire engine a few weeks ago. She needs a little TLC but Taz is a certified Festiva nut now and he has great plans for the car.

    On to the pics

Great little car with some cool history.

Basically just the roller rockers and they're still pretty easy to find at the junkyard :thumbright:

Cool little story! I hope we can get it to Madness! It may have a reserved spot, hint hint.

Gonna try to make it to 4thTiva and Madness. But we'll see, my priorities tend to get rearranged on a daily basis :confused1:

Haha I skipped the story right away just to look at the pics, and noticed it was fuel injected and it had black around the windows, also black bumpers, and no passenger mirror, and thought, WTH? it's not a GL, but it still has black window trim? Lol then I thought, OH it must be a 90 L+. THEN I read the story and thought I could've just read it haha. Nice car tho!

And yeah, my plans seem to get rearranged daily too, haha it sucks

Glad to see that Mabel has a new family. I actually miss seeing that car.
Last time I saw her was when Jay was bolting her rear beam and shocks back together so he could take her home.
Hope you guys can all make it to 4thstiva so I can check her out now that she is up and running again.
Dean would be pleased to see several of his projects find new homes.

I'm going to try my best to make it to both 4thStiva and Madness this year. Taz may be coming as well since he'll have 3 Festies now LOL.

I told him we have to take extra special care of this one due to it's history
