Pics below. We are going to try and hit some orchards soon and get some produce for dehydrating. Need to keep the big dehydrator working while the getting is good.

Its been a wonderful bounty this year. Its going to be a long winter before I can try something bigger and hopefully better next year. Its a lot of work but I like growing my own.

Sharing is the best part and it comes back double most times. I can handle hot to a point. We started wearing latex gloves preparing some of the spicier varieties, it will burn your hands and any thing you touch with your hands. Dont dare rub your face, lips, or eyes.

The garden is slowing but still producing. We are letting the tomatoes ripen inside on the window sills.

            Still yummy.

I picked a bunch of small tomatoes today. 100s of them left. Lots of peppers too. I would have some lettuce also but I took the electric fence down and the deer got to it.

.... You were fortunate, the deer around here have learn to jump the fence. They use to respect it.

.... No, I planted a small tree there. And yes there is an electric fence out there about 26" or so from the ground. The deer population has become so populous they have devastated us this year. I'll include so more pics were you can just see the YELLOW insulators on the post along with some veges from recent past years.

                      • .... Those are Julieanne watermelons. We have had them as large as 47 -48 lbs. a piece. Be forewarned the larger you make your garden the more of an invitation to the deer it becomes. We are now look into 8 to 10 foot fences.:eeeeeek:

                        • Picked nearly five gallons of produce today. Still have plenty of vine ripened tomatoes plus some green onions and lots of peppers of different varieties. A freeze is forecasted for this coming Thursday. I have some volunteer cucumbers, tomatoes and potatoes I might transplant a few and try to winter them over inside for an early start in the spring. Still need to till in some compost. Might build some cold frames for next year too.

                            • Limed my new second garden area today with 250 lbs of ag lime. When I picked up the lime the guy helping me load asked if I could use some extra. I said sure and he gave me some bags with holes in them for free so I can do another area if I want to. Also got a cubic yard of mulch to add to the pathways between my raised beds.
