JB weld works wonders on aluminum casings like that. I had to patch my diff housing on my tranny.

This was a big problem on mini vans in the early 90s, when they switched from a diff with gear oil in a seperate chamber to being lubricated with the trans oil. If you spin one wheel a lot (especially when on ice) the ATF gets flung off. Gear oil was better at sticking. Or so I have been told.

In the SHO world the PG is a garanteed MTX explosion. Its a huge NO-NO.

Our only options are the quaife (discontinued) or now the wavetrac which is a quaife but better.

I thought about tig welding a patch over it, but i have yet another spare KL trans that the internals are bad, so i'll probably just switch the guts over to the next case and not bother patching this one

I believe he is getting a quaife type Helical LSD from Mfactory when the $$ is available.

friday i got done work at noon and i spent about 3 hours getting the next tranny together and getting the motor/trans back in the festiva

Saturday morning i spent another 3 hours finishing up getting it all back together

I had LOTS of practice pulling the motor so i got fast at it

Exactly, i have a girlfriend, my daughter is having her first birthday this friday and my garage is tiny since i live in a trailor park

This break down did not cost me anything except tranny fluid since i already had spare tranny's laying around

trust me, if i made more money, my festiva would be turbo'd by now

My hats off to you chris
