One of the forum members with connections (who was also an engineer that worked on the original Neons) had started selling heli-diffs for Neons from OBX about the time I got out of the cars for much less than what they used to be. Perhaps OBX could be convinced to produce a diff for us. Just a thought.

for future references the quaife of a neon or svt focus (MTX75) is 600+$ , and one for a Taurus sho is 1500$ and it doesn't come with the ring gear.

I put a sticky on TeamCapri.com with the LSD info, might be worthwhile to do so here as well?

He's talking about the MFactory LSD. Bunch of guys on ClubProtege got a group buy kickin with them and they decided to produce them as mainstream item.Originally posted by NicholasJackson View PostThe factory lsd is CRAZY expensive (relatively). Pretty rare too. Ive seen one for 2000 dollars.
$700 is great considering the quality of the unit & the other "options" available

^^We do, it's called Mfactory  although the price isn't exactly wallet friendly
When i had my B6T, i had a phantom grip in there as well BUT with the regular spring and i had no issues with it at all, the upgraded springs are a LOT tougher and they are the ones that caused the above damage
So if i had to give any advice on phantom grips, run them with the regular springs only, not the upgraded ones

hmm, ok. I've got a PG to go in my G25 mated to a BP... I've heard some say good things, some say bad things. Figured as long as I wasn't beating the crap out of it it'd be a good thing... but maybe not. I wish we had an easier way to put a real LSD in our trannys!

Hey Nate, i did actually weld the diff pin as well  i had the upgraded springs in there too adding to the pressure on the diff pin

Same. It was a mess. Previous owner apparently beat the piss out of the trans. It blew shortly after I got the car. 7 different holes punched in the caseOriginally posted by eurotiva View PostCould have been way worse. My diff pin failed and exploded the trans.
Skeeters- if the PG was preventing one-wheel wonders it would not have galled up the diff pin & caused the rollpin retainer to shear in the first place. Effectively the diff was still open, at least that's my take on it - other opinions may vary.
If the pinion shaft was welded to the diff housing, galling can still occur. The diff will still fail, probably more catastrophically, the spider gears will have time to bounce around on the shaft before it breaks altogether. Got to look at the root cause of the issue

Am I missing something or is this not actually the PGs fault? If you were doing one-wheel-wonders than clearly it wasn't helping as much as it should have, but other than not really locking up the diff did it fail at all?
Seems to me like if the pin was welded in (as I have heard recommended many times) it wouldn't have worked its way out and put that nice grove in your case... what am I missing?
