thats a lot of miles in a short period of time! what do you guys really do to peoples pizzas who dont tip?

I used to deliver to a couple with a fatty house, a lexus, and a couple of other nice cars. They always barely tipped. I was already getting burned out on the job. I had a couple of stiffs that night. Towards the end of my shift they gave their usual insult tip. I wrote down their number from their check. When I ended my shift I quit. Then I stopped at a payphone and called them. They didn't answer. I left a civil message that I was taking one for the team. That their tipping was low class and rude. And that their poor tipping caused me to quit. That they needed to show some class and what the common courtesy tipping rates were. :angry1:

I ran up a little over 40k in 10 months in my old silver BP car. Its a little harder to track these days since in the past year I've driven Babystiva, Miata, MX6, Astro, Accord HB, and probably some others I've forgotten.



The main rule is if you are a known non-tipper, if we take two deliveries at a time, you are gonna have to wait on yours... we will even drive go straight past your house to the other house first, then catch yours on the flip side. Thats about it though, we're not too vengeful at the PJs I'm working at now, but at my old dominos back in the day a lot of guys let the drinks roll around in the floorboard till they got to the house.

Awesome flip on the sammy! and the b2200! Good luck on the caddy. I hate to say it but if you buy them with cash, don't title them into your name, and flip them fast enough the government doesn't know how many you've flipped.

Yeah, it's a game. I've been bitten twice. I lost about $1400 on a range rover a few years back. I lost about $200 on a recent festiva. That's it though. The key really is to only buy when there is enough cushion that you can't lose. Don't buy when it's a good deal. Only buy when it's a smokin' deal!

Only turn about $900 a year but I get a new toy to play with for the summer. But I'm sitting on a ski now that I have $500 into a I'm trying to sell it for a $1,000 and haven't had any hits. I'm wondering how low I may have to go.

in that case you might want to put it on ebay with a non reserve price(but start the bidding @ 500.00 so you do not lose $ & make sure you post on ebay that the js is for sale locally & you can end the auction at any time if its sold locally. also if you start the bidding at 1.00 you will get a lot more bidders than if you start it at 500.00 but thats up to you.

so true & dont be shy. ive bought cars b4 that were listed @ 2200.00 & with cash in hand walked away with giving them 1200 or 1300, not trying to beat people but i have to make a profit when i resell it. & some people get mad at me & tell me they wouldnt sell to me after insulting their price, and then call me an hour later & tell me to come get it.

In this economy, people will only buy what they either really really need or what luxuries they can actually afford.

I'm not surprised Flyinfourstroke is having problems selling a jetski. Plus, it's the end of summer and only folks who have the money and are planning ahead to next summer would be interested.

Excellent advice!

Also remember you need to add the number of hours you worked on the car. I think $10 an hour minimum for your work would be good. $20 would be better! You might take a bit less than this if it's a car you want to use for awhile and thus, "get your money's worth out of it."

More Karl wisdom. I have been guilty of not adding up my man hours on a flip. And conversely of not adding up the use I get from them.

I only buy when/if I can afford to actually keep it, in case don't want to or can't sell.

On the hours thing... I get waaay more out of the cars in the miles I put on them than the hours I put into them.

You have to know what the smokin deal price is and then what the resale price is that makes them feel like they got the deal.....then it will be easier to sell. You should always ask more then what you want...no (add price here) FIRM. That just tells them unless they give you what you are asking they will not get it. So they don't bother. If they think they can haggle you down...even 100 bucks....they feel they were in control and are happy.
