I have a pond on my property that is buried behind about thirty years of vegetataion. It was like that when I got it. There is a fence around the pond which grew into a fence row which extends to the waters edge and about 15 feet out into the pasture on the other side of the fence. I got the bright idea the other day to clean it out so you could at least see the pond. I broke through to the pond bank the yesterday and about every three to four feet was a large bull frog sunning on the bank. We've had a couple of hard freezes so I was surprized to see them. I think I might have to put some frog legs on the menu this weekend. They've been largely undisturbed for years. I bet there are some huge ones in there.
I couldnt even tell this gate was here until I uncoved it yesterday
Probably 1500 to 2000 feet of tangled undergrowth, locust trees, and vines of all sorts to be cleaned out. Its nearly impossible to walk through but I making slow and steady progress. Not much point to having a pond if you cant use it. I know there are some large crappie in the pond, I caught some last spring.
Some of the brush piles Ive pull out of the fence row.
