This is what a cast iron pipe from 1924 looks like. Gidget barked last night in the basement. She barks all the time but never there. I looked and this pipe was dripping. Cool! Smart dog! I put my finger up to it and it crumbled. This pipe serviced the sink and the dishwasher. So.....
So the old cast iron pipe above got bypassed. I accessed the newer plastic drain pipe below. Yes it has a cool mullet sticker.
This T is where the sink tied in to the 1924 cast iron drain pipe. Just below ran the newer plastic pipe. I decided to tie in to it. And....
And this is the resulting T. I cut a section out of the existing black drain pipe and tied in the drain from the two sinks and the dishwasher. All joints are sealed up and working properly. It took several hours for the whole job but hey, it's a first for me. Sweet relief! I didn't have to call for back up!
Under the sink before. The two sinks went to the same old leaking cast iron pipe via two different old drains. So....
So I tied them together before accessing the newer plastic drain below the ancient cast iron drain. The guy at the hardware store was VERY helpful. His advice helped me solve this problem.
