My new Home

Well this is the first time I will have posted photos so here it goes:

^Last one during the moving process. Me and my dad did all the work lifted it off the basement, slid it off, then moved it (That's dads truck in the pictures.)

My Grandfather was a house mover and my dad began moving houses at 14. After my Grandpa passed away most of the equipment laid idle for years. Now we've moved 2 counting this one in the past year. Something I'm not looking at doing for a career.

I should also mention that I bought this 28X32 Home built in 1957 for $100. Sold $80 worth of stuff out of the basement so I'm into it for $20 plus expenses which havn't topped $3,000.00. It is appraised for $38,500.
Who knows maybe one day I can host a meet on my 1/2 acre lot!!

If you guys have any questions on how to move a house fire away and I'll try answer!

An since ya offered to ask questions an all... I got a 16'x24' Stick built home on pillars and want to get it moved to the other side of my property (10 acres) to be used as a guest house. Problem being my driveway down by the road is cut into a embankment and has two old oaks on either side. Dump trucks have a hard time making it into the drive. Any ideas on how to get the house moved since a Semi is not getting up the drive? Sorry for the long question, just never had a chance to ask a house mover. Most movers around here are out of business.

Would it have to go out that drive or is it getting the trucks down that drive that is the problem? Only thing I could think of would be to hall the beams and equipment from the road down the driveway if you can't get a truck and trailer down there. Then they would just have to drive thier pull truck down the driveway without a trailer.

If the house has to exit that driveway then the embankment would probably have to be widened then you also would have to cut your trees :/ which isn't something I enjoy having to do either when it comes to old growth trees.

Some of the new pros have steerable dolleys that might make it easier to get out of your spot. If I could see a picture of the area in question I might be able to give a better explanation.

One more thing I don't consider myself a pro but I do know somewhat of alot when it comes to this stuff.

Awesome ! Thats quite a deal you got on that house. It always blows my mind.When I see these old homes in the city all jacked up. And having new basemants put in. Ever had any bad days when moving?

I'd buy the land around it, shore up the bottom, and I'd thereafter enjoy a great view of that creek!
