Picked this beauty up yesterday. She had been listed for $400 firm on CL for about 3 months, and I figured someone had scooped it up by now for sure. Owner said one day he went out and cranked it up and something was knocking in the engine so he shut it down and just started DDing his F150 so that no further harm would come to the motor. I admired it but never even called about it since my fleet was too big anyway and I didn't have the cash. Then on Monday I delivered FestEvil to his new owner. Suddenly I had some cash and an open slot in my fleet. I opened CL and typed in "wagon". Sure enough she was still listed! I got excited, then immediately downhearted since the last time the ad was updated was July 7. Surely it wasn't still available. I emailed the guy. "When would you like to come look at it?" he asked. So we checked it out on Tuesday, knock didn't sound too terrible. The guy countered HIS OWN price of $400 by saying "I'd take $300 for it". Needless to say I decided to get it. Last night we went back to drive it home, by the time I got to the gas station about 5 miles up the road, the knocking sound was gone and it was purring like a kitten
Its an '87 Camry wagon, 2.0L, 5 speed, with power sunroof! What a rare combination to find in a wagon In gorgeous gray (phone pics don't do justice at all) original paint, still has the metallic sparkle to it even. Very professionally done 35% window tint on it. Two brand new tires on the back, and I have 4 more Pirellis of the same size in the basement in great shape. Very clean inside and out except for a good size dent in the front pass side fender. I think I'm going to paint the wheels black and get some s10 beauty bands for it like I had on FestEvil, but other than that it will be staying pretty stock for now. $300, drove it home and in needs nothing! I will probably be doing the front struts soon, as they are a little weak, but I need to do a little more research on just how bolt-on the '90-'93 Celica suspension is to these things. Up here in the mountains any extra stiffness and control over the front axle is always welcome!
