  • A long, long time ago...

My brother just found these pictures, and sent them to me. Good times. I really miss that little white car.

    The cars:
White Festiva: I bought in 2003 for $200. 1989 Carbed. It had been sitting in a field, and needed some love (Which I was more than willing to give it). I drove this car the 1400 mile journey to New Mexico and back twice. While in New Mexico, I lost 4th gear, and kept on driving it, just not on the Freeway. It was the only car that made it back to Utah with us on a trailer. I was young, and dumb, and tried to do a clutch without any help, instruction, or otherwise, and ended up calling Cash for junk cars, and they hauled it away.

Red Festiva: My brother had always looked down on the little cars, and he got this one with a dinged passenger fender for $150. He actually grew to love the car. It had 305,000 miles on it, and no love. He drove it for about 8 months and then sold it for $500.

Blue Festiva: It was an L-plus, had the nicer door cards, and a split seat. My brother was driving home, and saw it parked at a tow yard. The story goes, that a rich dentist's daughter had run into it with her SUV, and the dentist showed up, and wrote them a check for $1000, rather than have it effect his insurance. My brother bought it from the tow company for $50! He cleaned it, did an oil change, and sold it for $550 a few weeks later.

I miss the old days when $200 Festivas were in abundance!

Sad the white one went the way of a Pepsi can. Looks really nice.

Nice red, white and blue picture, though.

Why did the blue one even need to be towed? Looks like it could have driven away just fine.

Dentist gave them $1000, they gave him the title. He gave the title to the tow truck company for towing it.

Really racking my brain with the fact, that all 3 of those ran relatively well when this pic was taken, and We only paid $450 for all 3! Those cars are all now 8 years older, and worth WAY more than they were then.
