Guessing you looked this up after watching Jay's video of the Abarth? I heard him talking about the 2cyl engine as well. Wonder how much heavier the car is than a Festiva and what kind of mileage you could get out of that 2cyl engine.
Checked out another article...not bad!!!
"When equipped with the new TwinAir, the Fiat 500 can reach a top speed of 108 miles per hour and can hit 60 mph in under 11 seconds. Fuel consumption works out to a handy 57 miles per gallon"

That actually trumps Festiva. Zero – 60 is 10.5 on a Festiva five-speed. And 53 is a common best mpg. But most people only get 40 to 45youtube.com/neanderpaul 88 festiva LX w/BP G25 MR 5 speed waiting for wiring- 93 Festiva GL auto w/ air, waiting for B6t/G4A-HL - 98 Nissan Quest - 02 Mazda protege 5 wife's DD

My brain is melting for the Fiat love!
1. We will never get an engine this clever in the US
2. The Fiat is a turd that is made in either Mexico or Poland (NEVER in Italy)
3. Fiat tried in the US and failed, because they make shoddy product
4. There is ZERO Cargo room in this car. (9.6ft vs. Festiva's 26.2 ft)
5. No human over 5ft tall can fit in the back of a 500. (And the thought of two average height people in it, is beyond comical)
6. Think you bump elbows in the Festiva? Try the 500...
Having ridden in these cars, and having friends with both the normal and Abarth versions, I could not express how not impressed I am with this car more.

The abarth is awesome in the way that a miata is awesome.
The twin air is amazing with it's HP and MPG numbers. Of course we won't get it. Doesn't make it less amazing.
Do I love it more than my festivas? Of course not. Is it amazing? Numbers don't lie.youtube.com/neanderpaul 88 festiva LX w/BP G25 MR 5 speed waiting for wiring- 93 Festiva GL auto w/ air, waiting for B6t/G4A-HL - 98 Nissan Quest - 02 Mazda protege 5 wife's DD

How much to import one?
The engine, that is.
That engine in a Festiva would be nice and it would probably go mid-sixties MPG wise, and 0 to 60 in under 10 seconds. WIN-WIN-WIN!

no, we're not getting Fiat's TwinAir. That's already been established. We are, however, getting Ford's 1.0L 3cyl EcoBoost! Slated for Fiesta in 2014. http://www.caranddriver.com/news/201...t-drive-review
rated at 123hp and 125ft/lb torque. We will most likely get the 99hp version.Last edited by FB71; 11-08-2012, 11:17 AM.Jim DeAngelis

I'll never understand car companies' hatred of empty space. I know, I'm nit picking.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.
