Nice! Looks like a pretty clean Falcon...and plain-Jane as well...just as I like 'em. Yeah, to bad it's not a 2dr sedan...but it will still make for a fun cruiser. A local used car lot has a '63 Fairlane 2dr Sport Coupe. It's a 289-4v (probably a 260 originally) with a top loader 4-speed. Some one did a budget resto and it still needs work, buts its solid and complete. Its done up like a T-bolt. I've entertained the idea of trading my 04 Mustang for it, but trades never work out well for the customer. If it was a 64, I would already own it! I'd be better off to sell the Stang and use the money to complete my 62 Galaxie.

^^^^ By design! The space race was so popular in the 60s than "rocket" styling cues became the standard for all auto manufacturers. Check out a 61-63 T-bird...it's a rocket on wheels.

Ya I'm pretty pumped about the car... after I bought it I found out its not a factory V8 car nor a factory auto car but thats what she is running with now, 289 V8 and a mystery Auto, as well a mystery rear end at this point... Guy I bought it from says it was a sleeper drag car and has been sitting in his garage for about 10 years. Engine starts, runs and sounds amazing. It has a full stainless dual exhaust on it so they didn't cheap out with that... hopefully they spent the same money on the drivetrain.

I can't tell from the pics, but 6cyl cars had 4-lug wheels. If the rear end has 4-lug, then it's the stock light duty 6 cyl unit. Probably has a rear cover like a GM rear end? A V8 car would have an 8" rear with the front drop-out carrier assembly. There's still some old 8" rears laying around in the junk yards, but they're getting harder to find. If its a 3-speed auto, then it's probably an old FMX. They probably did the swap 20+ years ago, so an FMX would be the most common small block auto trans by far.

Well it has a rear cover on the diff like a non 9 inch however it has 5 lug wheels all the way around... so either someone took alot of time and swapped out everything or this thing is just an oddball... Actually found the original owners manual in the glovebox... turns out the car was originally a rental car in Vancouver back in 1965... kinda odd... but thats as far as we got on the falcon... the Festiva is getting some much needed attention first...

First we had to dig out dads sport... to get my car out of the shed...
                              Then we started dissassembly...

gotta pull the motor... I have a rattle in the throwout bearing in the tranny that needs to be fixed and while its out we are gonna give her a once over and try to clean up some of the mess under the hood... wires and hoses and such... oh and then a custom rad mount needs to be created as well as bracket for the air filter...
Got quite a bit more done than in that picture but I forgot to take more pics... got sidetracked putting the new bbq together as well and making some supper...

Should have the motor out tomorrow hopefully then I start nights so might be on break time till wednesday... lol...
