  • New Quad, Polaris Predator 90

I've been talking with my neighbor about a trade for a 4 wheeler and some cash for the Peaspire. I think we're actually gonna go through with the deal tomorrow. We dug the bike out of his garage today lol, its a smallish garage a little bigger than mine but he's got at least 4 complete bikes, a motorcycle, and 3-5 parts bikes stuffed in there!

This particular bike is a 2003 predator 90, my oldest boy is 9, and I've got 2 more turning 8 within a year so I figure we could have a little fun with something like this.

He says the stator is burned out, its a 30-40$ part, but the motor runs good so hopefully it won't be too awful hard to fix, I've done clutches and exhaust work, installed a few kill switches, but its been well over 5 years since I worked on a bike...the manual came with it lol, can't be toooo hard Haha?!?!!

He has a 94 b8 protege with close to 300k, so I know the Peaspire will be going to a good home. He's wanting to tear the protege down and put new seals and gaskets on the engine but can't without another car around. I really don't need another car lol... Who knows maybe we will get a new member out of the deal?!

Anyway, a couple pics for you guys..

haha, well, we did the deal today..

I think it was a good trade, 500+that quad for the Peaspire. After we shook on it and the implements pertaining to the merchandise was exchanged, I was messing with the bike and got it to start sparking. There was a wire not hooked up right by the coil, it went on the coil and it started sparking... I still couldn't get it to run, but he came over and told me that since the bike had been sitting, the oil was probably all down in the bottom and I wasn't getting any gas... so we sprayed a little ether in it and it fired up! I dumped a little over a gallon of gas in the tank, shook it up, and now it stays running but it needs ether to start. He said if I just run the crap out of it for a bit the jet will clean itself off, so probably no need to get into the carb.

I ran it around the yard for 15-20 minutes, crashed into babyspire once...so I adjusted the brake linkage, got the plastics all back in place and I'm taking the boys out riding tomorrow.

We took the bike out today, it was awesome! Two of my boys learned to ride today, one is still a little young. My 6 year old is a natural!! He picked it right up..and he's the only one that wrecked!!! After I got the bike out of the horse pasture he jumped on it and kept going, just a couple minor scratches where the barb wire got ahold of him. We found out the hard way that the saftey shut off switch does work lol...

The bike ran good for them, never stalled on them or anything, but when I rode it I got it to stall a few times after a WOT run for about 150 yards or so. I can feel it isn't putting out as much power as it should either, and I think it's in the carb. I was getting ready to pull the carb off and try to clean it, but after we ran a whole tank of gas through it I'd say it should have cleaned itself out....I'm just gonna buy a new carb, they're less than 50 bucks on ebay, and I HATE CARBS! I have never had luck with them, 50$ will fix my issue, hassle free.

The brakes aren't grabbing very hard, and it idles high (should get fixed with new carb!?)...so I took off the front tires and hit the wheels and pads with some sandpaper, I'll get the linkage worked out soon too, just tired and don't feel like messing with it anymore today...for what I got in it, and the fun my kids had today it was totally worth it...I gotta get the new carb in and on by next weekend because I know MY son is gonna want to ride when he comes over.
