Under the hood of my son's 88 Festiva.

That looks almost like another engine I know. The yellow spark plug wires are very similar.

      Looks clean.
Is your valve cover, block, and thermostat housing powder coated?
      Or is it just painted?
      Running 40psi.....in my tires.

I've done all the work on his motor. I guess we could just plug the vacuum hoses to start. Any of them have anything to do with the carb?

Whoo hoo! Reduced electronics and OEM knick knacks, plus a carburetor! Presumably this powerplant has also become a B6.

I thought so. That is why you have all of those solenoids and ECA control harness still in place. This is an old picture of my engine. I only have an idle up solenoid for my power steering and air conditioning. I ripped out everything else.

Would like to put a Weber on it, or another carb that's not computer controlled or emission packed and full of solenoids.

There are a lot of great carb conversions that can be searched. The trouble is, once you throw the vacuum hoses, solenoids and wiring away including the computer, you feel like adding something back in, because it looks too bare. I have three tanked manifolds just in case you want to do some aluminum welding.
