  • uh oh, is this a replacement for my festy love.....

I just fell in love with another car... I never thought it would be possible as I have sunk so much time and money into my festy it isn't even funny. But I guess now I will have to share my love between the two...

This is how I found her...

And after a couple of carb cleanings and some new fuel and fuel line she was running so a new set of rubber went on her and I am loving every minute with her so far...

She's a 1973 Super Beetle with the rare Sport Bug package, apparently a one year only package with only about 5000 made. I haven't had feelings like this for a car since I started on project festy... But don't get any ideas people... the festy is not going anywhere... and yes I still plan to bring it to Westiva this year... lol...

Gotta admit, I'm lovin' those wheels. Nice find! Did you find her in a 'yard? Hope you got her cheap!

A guy had it parked in a farm yard with a bunch of other stuff about 2 hours from me. So I grabbed my trailer and a couple buddies and went and picked her up. I paid a fair price I think. $1500. Solid pan and decent interior and body. And it ran with very little work. Those wheels are part of the sport bug package. They are a lemmertz (sp) 5.5 wide 15". I put a new set of 195/55/15 on her.

My first car was a 73 super beetle. I remember when I got my second car in 91. It was an 89L 4 speed. It was a huge upgrade for me. Faster, better gas mileage, much larger interior, infinitely more dependable, and remarkably better in the snow than the very capable beetle.

Still, a fun toy to have!

            Great find.

One of my old girlfriends had a 71 Beetle, I drove once, and liked them ever since. They are just hard to find around here in the rust belt.

My second car was a 59 Beetle! Quite a contrast to my first... a 57 Meteor Rideau 500 four door.

It's been great in the snow we got here recently. Just the lack of heat inside kinda sucks lol. This one wasn't on kijiji, I got it from a guy on Facebook. I'm kinda a car hoarder so the festy will get pulled out again when the weathers better and I can get some suspension/body work done on her to rectify my rear tire rub problem. It may become an autocross/strip racer mainly. I really don't know. But I do know I like buying a lot more than selling lol.
