Yeah you reach up under the dash on the right of the steering column. All the way up there is the speedo.

If not you can cheat & disconect the speedo cable from the trans

When I done mine , I pulled the cluster out far enough to disconnect the cable from the back ,unplugged all the connectors ,
From the engine side , I pulled the cable towards the engine ,then angled it towards the other side of the brace in the dash and pushed it in as far as it would go .Because the speedo is now on the right side ,instead of the middle of the cluster now , is the reason it needs to go on the other side of the brace.
Then I just plugged everything back in on the new cluster , pushed the cluster in and screwed it back into place. Everything worked the first time ,
Maybe took 15 min tops .

did you know that on an 88 you have to take the steering wheel off to get to the cluster? :? whats up with that? on the 90's you don't have to do that. anyway, wouldn't i need a tach cable too? or did they put that on all stivas?
btw, the how-to link doesn't work.

All festivas are wired for a tach. On mine i had to use the front half of my old speedo on the one that had the tach in it, it will fit but there is some modifing u will have to do, they way they snap together is different, and the one from the regular speedo will not have the little black covers at the bottom so the light will shine threw around the fuel and temp guage needles but i put my own covers on. I glued on some small black dots. I also had to use weather stripping aroud the outside edge of the cluster the front half from the old speedo is not deep enough to reach the back half of the cluster with the tach, and i also had to drill the hole for the trip reset button, here is some pics the weatherstripping is the gray line right above the tach. These are clickable thumbnails. The bottom one is a better pic.

same thing w/ mine. the tabs that connect them together are different. i just cut them off completely hoping for a tight fit. there was a little gap though but i cracked my clear cover anyways drilling the hole. didn't have a regular bit so i tried using the tip of a paddle bit and pushed a little to hard.

were those needles white? and is that tach backlit? it looks really good by the way. i think the orange looks better than the white. why did you have to use the front from the old one?

I painted the needles white and the tach is backlit on all of them , the front half of the tach cluster was cracked when i got it. I also like the orange better than the white.

how did you get the odometer reading from the car you put it in? did the old one just come out so you could put it in the new one?

and i don't like the design of the 110-mph speedos. the stock ones look better.
