  • made a little progress on the 90

thats my festiva a few days ago.

i buffed the hood and drivers side of the car after removing those ugly decals, i am painting the trim red to match the car and reattaching it.

    - my festiva is turning out to have nicer paint than my falcon.. ops:

quite a difference, looks good. what did you use to buff it out with?
id like to install a body side moulding just below the crease all the way
along the car, as that seems to be the spot where the dents/door dings
seem to occur most. id like it to match the color of the car, and mine is aqua. harder to match than the red.

i used turtle wax rubbing compound on the hood, then meguir's 3 stage polishing system, im going to redo the whole car after i do some rust repair and repaint a few little spots.

i used krylon fusion plastic paint to paint the trim, i dont know how it will hold up to everyday use, i might spray high temp clear coat over it to help preserve it and make it have a brighter appearance

How is the plastic trim on the side stuck to the car? Are there mounts of some kind, or is it just glue?

it was 2 sided mounting tape, and a rubber adhesive. the tape came off easy with the DSR i used for the decals, the rubber is harder to get off, i found that mineral spirits and a wash cloth kind of works, but i gave up and left the rubber alone since the trim will cover it up anyway. im going to remount it with 3M 2 sided mounting tape.

my side trim started to come off and we used some cheap trim bonding stuff from advance auto parts. it worked pretty good. its still stuck.

Never too shiny, nor too drab.

Festivas are good no matter what.
