  • Engine comp pics after V.C. replacement

    Replaced the V.C. gasket today and cleaned the engine comp.

    I washed my Festiva once ( daily driver ) , it didn't like it !
    money pit

    No spitters were I work, you swallow it all. The Company feels if you already have it in your mouth why waste it.

          My festiva doesn't like being washed either, I spray rust inhibitor all over everything except the glass, I guess its kind of an oil bath, gives it that dirty "coal powered" look :lol:

                      Wow, that's clean.

                      I wish mine looked like that.. I am torn between rehabbing my engine compartment and just letting it go..

                      I might just wait till mine needs a fresh motor..... then do it up nicely...

                        i'm with ya there quaddawg... my VC is blowing oil all over, but idn why?? it started sudenly. not sure if i even want to replace the VC not to mention clean the mess... lol.

                        that is one clean lookin engine compartment tho; if/when i get a new engine i'll be shooting for something that looks like that!

                          Simple Green and a soft bristle brush , spray- agitate rinse , repeat as necessary

                            ya, mine was leaking too, it turns out the little rubber bushings that crush between the valve cover bolt heads and the top of the valve cover had dried out and cracked to the point that they had become hard as a rock and no longer had the elasticity to put ample pressure on the cover to keep it from leaking, so I just added some washers to the bushings to crush what was left sufficiently to hold the cover down, no more leaks :wink:
