  • Really needed a day to relax

Crazy Indiana weather, snow one day and in the 60s the next. Cars are constantly filthy from the slop on the road no matter how often you spray 'em off. Kids were gone doing their own thing, and my wife just wanted to hang out at home and relax. Her mother recently passed after a year long battle with cancer, and it's been a whirlwind of helping care for her, transitioning to having a memorial service and settling the estate. It was a nice day out, not too cold, so I went out to clean up the cars while she "relaxed". Relaxing involved doing laundry, baking chocolate chip cookies, and making a homemade chicken pot pie. There's just no slowing that girl down. It came to light that we were out of butter, so I took a little trip to the grocery store via the scenic route through the backroads. On the way home I thought I'd snap a few pictures of my Festy at a couple of the local covered bridges. All in all, a much needed low stress day.

That's one sharp looking and clean (you did a great job) Festiva. The background is nice too...would be interesting to know what year Ford was the first to cross that bridge. If this trend continues, the Summer is going to be a hot one. Mmm..:iconbiggrin:homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Sickness and death is one of life's greatest difficulties. One of my 11 siblings is on his deathbed. We have been estranged for years.Out of respect for one of his daughters that unfortunately got caught up in our mess I may choose not to attend his funeral.I assume that will offend a few in my clan of 200 plus. The weather is wonderful and motivated me to get a Festiva I am stripping down loaded up on a trailer for disposal.Still processing on what I should take time to save and store and what to let go of.

That's a great looking car! I've always loved covered bridges. When I was a boy, my cousins and I would jump off a bridge very similar to that one into the river below.
I hope you and your family have more time to relax and unwind in 2017.
Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I really didn't expect a lot of responses considering I spoke of death, makes a lot of people uncomfortable. It is part of the natural cycle of life.
There are at least 6 covered bridges within 5 miles of the house, every year in October there is a covered bridge festival here. People come in from all over the nation and world to see the bridges, buy trinkets, and gorge themselves on delicious fried food!! Check out Parke Co. Covered Bridge Festival online, it's a big deal here. Might be a good detour on the way home from Madness and there's plenty of room in the yard to pitch a tent!

            jfd64,
Sorry to hear of your brother's eminent passing and your estrangement from him. I hope that his ending is peaceful and painless. Don't know where you stand theologically speaking, and I myself am not a devoutly religious person, but IMO there is nothing to be afraid of on the other side.

rad, my mother died less than a week ago. I believe that every word in the Holy Scriptures is true. Did you know that Ron Wyatt found Moses' exact crossing point on the Red Sea? He also discovered the Ark of the Covenant.

I've been taking my Carby car to the Rush County bridges for his bucket list. Your bridges are next on this list!

My hubby and I are in Indy if we ever need to get the Indiana guys together for a mini meet!

So sorry to hear of your loss, brave. I understand what you are going through, both my parents are deceased. Take comfort in the Lord, that's what he's for.
