Hey everyone, just figured i'd show off the fun I had at the pick n pull. full aspire suspension, and 4 13" tires and rims from a hyundai accent. $225! Got a center console and dome light out of an escort while I was at it. I'll be doing the conversion next week, once I have all of the replacement bits, (brakes, tie rods, rack bellows, wheel cylinders).

Very nice!
You know you need festiva inners and aspire outers right? (Tie rod ends)
Did you pull a master cylinder or booster? Or do you plan to use the stock stuff?
Are you drilling out the sway bar in the rear axle?
Are you putting new lca's on the car or are yours good?
Make sure to use anti sieze lube on the rear lower strut bolts and on the front lca to frame bolt.

I have festiva inners and aspire outers on the way, mc and booster were gone from donor. Drilling out the sway bar? Please elaborate. My lowers are good. I anti sieze everything on asian cars, even though I live in the south. I cant believe i got the wheels and tires for $10 each92 Festiva L with AC 5 Speed, 244,000mi and counting!

Ok, i have aspire brakes with stock mc and booster. Brakes well, you just have to push the pedal hard in an emergency stop. With the bigger booster it takes less effort and feels nicer.
Sure! If your staying with stock suspension or wheel alignment its probably not a big deal and will be just fine. Many have done it. However if you adjust your alignment for better handling with stock suspension or do the 'advanced suspension' install the flexability or independence of the rear beam becomes important. With negative camber the festiva rear beam will help you steer around a corner. The aspire beam is thicker iirc and has a sway bar which prevents a lot of that independent movement which is needed for the car to handle nice around corners with the camber.
Check out this thread: https://fordfestiva.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60550
Post #1 is a video of how independent the festiva beam is. post #24 is a video for comparison to an aspire beam. You can see the difference. Lots of talk in that thread too about it.

Thats an interesting concept! once i get all the new parts to put it together i'm going to see how i like it as it sits, then go from there. I'm going for mostly stock, no performance per-se, just a gas sipper with beaucoup trunk space. Wonder if theres a market for the 12" rims and tires? It's got almost new yokohamas.92 Festiva L with AC 5 Speed, 244,000mi and counting!

I just noticed that SimpleTire has the Yokohama Y372 165/70R12's again. Could not find them anywhere for a long time. $86.92 / tireYokohama Y372, 165/70R -12, 37203 4 for $347.68 They have 10% off right now so you can get 4 for $312 plus shipping.

These are the best tires I ever bought for my Festivas. When I couldn't find them recently, bought 4 of the Nanjang's and put them on Nellie after I switched her Yokahamas to Rosie. The Nanjangs ride OK and I don't drive Nellie much so they should last for years even if they don't wear as well as the Yokohamas.
So yes if those Yokohamas are the 165/70R12's and really like new there is definitely a market for them. What is the mfg date on them?
Best bet is to try to find a buyer locally because shipping on the wheels would be costly.

Here is a link that will show you where to find the mfg date on the tire better than I can explain:

Another option would be to remove the tires from the wheels and post them on ebay at $45 each or $160 for all 4 plus shipping.
If they are only two years old and have very low miles on the tread, they are worth that. That's more than 50% less than the new Yokohamas.

I Just bought a set of 4 165 55 12's from Simple tire, they cost me $201 delivered to my door, mounted, balanced and road force tested, I'm very happy with these tires, the ride is good and the road noise is slight. just my 2 centsAn idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.
