  • great welding!

Here is a before and after of what happens when you buy a vehicle off eBay and there is no mention of severe metal damage where the battery acid has leaked out!

Note: The lower mounting hole for the battery platform is dissolved into outer space.

This is the world class job that Was done by one of the highly skilled welders at Frank Impera's body shop to repair the damage:

It's from Detroit. There is very little rust on 96% of the car. All the rust is concentrated in two spots in the engine compartment. The sodium hydroxide in battery acid is very caustic and dissolves the thin metal quickly.

Nice job fixing that! Wish I had the equipment to try that kind of repair!

But unless you have a special battery your is a lead acid battery, the electrolyte is H2SO4 (Sulfuric acid) not caustic, and as you see first hand, will chew through metal in short order!
NaOH is a base (ie caustic)!

A caustic substance can be acidic or an alkaline

Those welds are shityass. I did better in first year body shop class in grade 9. I hope they paid you for wasting your time.
