Assfire specs
Basically the Assfire, (that's what the owner calls it), is a complete drive-train swap from a 323 GTX, the aspire was chosen because the festiva would have to much more fabrication for the rear drive, tunnel etc.
I have many more pics, but have difficulty in posting on this forum. As I only have dial-up and limited access.Ice Racing is Still a Black art!

Thats almost enough to make me go buy an egg if I had a GTX drivetrain ready to go. And of course, with the GTX drivetrain I'd be using GTX hubs and brakes too... so I'd have another brake swap for the silver car ready to go when I got done with itNo festiva for me ATM...

Asfire
Alright...i'm the guy who built and drove this thing.
The plan started about a year ago....my uncle had a 323 GTX that he had been racing. The gtx had taken a few good hits, and like them all was VERY rusty. We decided we needed a new shell...but something lighter, and maybe shorter.
so...about may of last year...we found a 94 Aspire sitting behind an industrial unit. Turns out it had been sitting there since around 1998 on pavement. So the body was is VERY good shape. little to no rust anywhere.
anyways....we decided to prepare the car for The Challenge Sur Glace in Sherbrooke Quebec, which was Feb 23-25. We made this decision around Christmas, and essentially left us with 8 weeks to completely prep the car. This included a full Rally legal roll cage, and all the other fabrication.
To make a long story short....we finished the car just in time (about 3 hrs after tech inspection), and did very well all weekend...finishing 2nd just behind a 400 hp tube framed purpose built ice racer.
The car has COMPLETE 323 GTX drivetrain, with a shortened driveshaft. Front axles and hubs are from the GTX, bolted on stock aspire control arms. Used a stock aspire power steering rack, modified for no power (3 turns lock to lock). Brakes are all GTX, but uses stock aspire pedal box and brake master cylinder. Clutch was converted to cable, using a modified aspire clutch cable. Stock aspire gas tank was modified, and high flow pump installed. All engine and transmission mounts are custom, along with the front crossmember. All engine mounts are Delrin/Aluminum. All struts are from GTX, which involed ALOT of fabrication work to make them fit.
Piles of other tricks and fits along the way.
Our best guess is the motor is making around 200 whp. So she does move pretty good.
I have plenty of pictures...but heres a few for now.
