Just an update for everyone. The last 2 days i have stripped out the interior (yet again) for more work to be done to gain the engineers report.
The reason for this is- in Australia- fuel systems must be completely sealed to prevent fuel vapors from entering the cabin of the car. It will also aid in the reduction of noise coming from the pump (which is actually quite noisy).
While this was being done i though it might be a good oportunity to get ready for the FINAL interior installation by doing all those crappy jobs i have been avoiding.
So the firstpicture is the aluminium plate which was cut to the exact shape of the rear of the hatch from the inside. A spacer was fitted and threaded so not only will the plate sit square (horizontally), but i now have somewhere to bolt down the spare wheel. Please ignore the holes! I took the photos too late!
The inside of the floor was marked so i knew where to put the centre hole.
This is the wiring for both pumps and the relay, which sit inside the cavity of the rear seat when folded down.
After 'dummy' fitting the plate, i drilled the holes for the bolts, and secured the plate in position. After removing the plate, i placed a 15mm High density foam sealant around the edge of the plate, and against the rear of the hatch.
