I got to see the actual mud flaps that were used in the now famous mud flap shooting video. And Doug got to see the actual mud flaps that were protrayed in the video. No shots were fired. :lol:

Monday was 1 of the worst days I have ever had !!

I was sick to my stomach , I felt like I was abandoned in the middle of no where .
The center of the pulley broke out at the top of the hill , right before Ft. Riley , after I seen what had happened , I started it and got going , shut it off and coasted down the hill to Ft. Riley , nothing there . cooled down and back on the interstate to the next exit .. Junction City ,KS.
I went to every salvge yard , only 1 Aspire engine , wrong pulley , it was a serpentine .

I went to the ford dealer , no chance , Now I am felling real sick thinking my trip is over , then he tells me to go to this shop where he has many Mazdas . I waited for over 1 hour for him to get back from lunch .

He had no Mazdas that would work ,But I asked him if he could try to weld it , He did a great job piecing it back together , It got me the next 550 miles .

I looked all over out here ..Today (Wed) I called a guy , he said he had 2 a 91 and a 93 , no engines , but I said I wanted to come and look to see what they had , I looked inside this white rust free , dent free GL , I look inside and guess what was laying on the floorboard .. Yes the pulley , I about passed out , the guy prolly thought I was nuts ...LOL.

I about ripped the door of opening it .

The rust free , dent free , with wiper and defog hatch will be on my car in the morning (Thur).
WOW .. well that is all for now on that subject .

I have some great pics from on top of the mountain , the snow was almost 15 feet deep in areas , many pics of deer and elk .
I was like 30 ft from 1 elk and he never ran , I also see 1 festiva on the interstate and got his pic LOL..

Very nice....glad to hear you got the pully. Also nice find on the GL....the only thing you grabbed was the hatch?
I see you right now...all dug into the snow like a little kid...after seeing that pic of you playing in the snow this winter...lol

Wow! Three great turns in an otherwise troubling story. The weld, the pulley on the seat, and the hatch with the wiper. Glad it worked out.

Everyone said I was like a kid in a candy store :lol:

I got the hatch on , and I got everything , the hoses and the washer and switches .

I got it all installed and adjusted ,and installed the switches the hatch latch looks like brand new , still bright gold .

I had to install the 2 fuses , they were never in the car :lol:

It all worked the first time , I was the happiest person , this side of the Mississippi :lol:


I had one heck of a time getting my spoiler off ,I was not going to leave it .
I kept my strut , and latch , and swapped my lock cylinder , I also kept my Freshtiva >>Festiva emblem that was on there too .

The only bad thing was I had to leave my FF.com sticker on there and my 2 little stickers that were on the bottom FF,com and FMS sticker ..
And the In memory of DJ Hayek sticker , I could not take them without tearing them up,

I told the guy there when I left my old hatch ,
I said you have a piece of history there , If anyone sees that hatch there , they will know I was there :lol: :lol: :lol:

Vacation is almost over , have a wedding this evening up by Denver , Then on Sunday morning sometime it will be ......

East bound and down loaded up and truckin :lol: :lol:

It has been nice out here , but I am looking forward to getting back home.

It is 09:30 here now , I should be on the road in 1 hour or so , looks like there is no wind , WOW .. I won't know how to act without a head wind the whole way :lol:

Supposed to be pretty warm today , and it is all down hill from here now , literally :lol: :lol: 6,200 ft to 620 ft .

I can't wait to get back on a cable connection , I forgot how slow dial up was :lol:

Finally made it home @ 6:00 this evening .

We had a lot to put away , and took everyone out to eat , then I had 271 pictures to load :shock:

Made good time back ..

$148.00 spent in gas


I should have called Marcus , we stayed in the same Hotel in KC, Kansas, the Hampton , right next to Cabellas , then this morning ..She wanted to go to Cabellas , so we shopped a bit before we hit the road .
