  • Ground squirrels

I use to occasionally see ground squirrels around my house but this year I have two baby ground squirrels living just outside the front door. I guess they are getting use to me coming and going cause they know no fear. I went out to take a pic of one the other day. I started about ten feet away and gradually moved closer taking a pic every foot or so. The pic below was taken from about 18 inches and it never ran away or even moved. I'm afraid I'm going to step on one coming out of the house. They sure are cute, and quick too !

Then there is this weird bug I found trying to blend into its surrounding. We need an off topic photo gallery

That isnt a squirrle that is a chipmunk. Unless you catergorize all nut chewing floor vermin as ground squirrles, but then I have a couple of ex girl friends that meet that description.

Looks like a chipmunk to me too. Cutest rodent in the world. Tasty too, according to my cats

We call them chipmunks here too, but yours have a longer tail than the ones here. My sister's dog (a whippet) decapitates them and eats only their heads!!! They are cute. You got a great pic. I've never seen them be so tame. AWESOME bug pic! It has the little face with the tongue sticking out on the back of its head. Crazy looking!

Yes they are chipmunks. they have facial stripes. I'm not sure if ground squirrels do. They are like Chip and Dale. They pack their jaws with a bunch of seeds until their head doubles in size. I hadn't noticed the face with a tongue until you mentioned it. That bug was probably a inch and a half long. Pretty good size. Interesting feet.

That happened here too. I saw one in my area when I was 15, then about 10 years ago they started taking over. The dogs in my family obsess over them. It's pretty entertaining.
