Festiva Madness XIV! Down at the Farm!

    UPDATE!

Madness FMIV is going to be a virtual event this year! Details will updated both in the thread, and via the Facebook Madness page!

    Saturday, October 3rd 2020

Madness has a Discord Server! Here is your invite!

Discord is great for playing games and chilling with friends, or even building a worldwide community. Customize your own space to talk, play, and hang out.

You can download Discord as an app or you can use your browser, even download it to your PC or Laptop. All you need is an email address to join!

Ok, so, for Virtual Madness we will do things a little differently than for the meet. Here is how we will do this.

Send an Email to Festivamadness@gmail.com with your name and let us know if you want to be able to add pictures to the official Google Drive folder. Be aware, to add pics to the drive, you will need to sign up with a gmail address.

You will then be emailed back with a number for your car. One car per person, please, as you would only be able to drive one car to the meet!
This is also the time to mail in one GREAT photo of your car and let us know what award you are competing for! There will be awards for Fan Favorite and Best Beater this year. There will also be a Dean Allen award and a DJ Hayek award announced when the winners of the other two are. Winners can be from anywhere in the world!

Entries will need to be made by 11:59 PM , Eastern Standard Time, Sunday October 4th. Pictures will be posted in two albums, one for each prize, and will be open for voting from Monday October 5th at Noon until 11:59 PM EST Sunday October 11th.

Someone will be monitoring the gmail account Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 5PM AT LEAST. Responses should be fairly quick at those times. Someone will be checking regularly the rest of each day, but please be patient in case we get inundated.

Yes,we will check the spam folder regularly.

Both albums will be on the Madness page, and links will be posted and bumped throughout the week. The car with the most likes at the end of contest will be awarded the prize! You will then have to email us your address for shipping, yes, this is a physical award just like the ones at the meet!

Winners will be announced Tuesday October 13th 7PM EST.

You do not have to send a picture to virtually attend! All you have to do is email us to be counted in attendance! This event and contest is open to ALL Ford Festivas, Ford Aspires, Mazda 121's and Kia Prides!

The google photo album is here!

                          Covid and Madness: A Poll

The Madness committee is faced with a tough decision and wants your input.

Continue to plan the meet as normal, or plan a WorldWide Virtual Meet, Quaranstiva?

Things to consider in this poll.

1 In the last week, due to ever rising numbers, the governor of our state extended Phase 2 until Friday September 11th. This limits crowds of outdoor meets and events to 25. That is only about 3 weeks before the meet. THIS COULD BE EXTENDED AT ANY POINT IN TIME. If it is extended, there will be no choice but to cancel the meet. Doing that at the last minute would probably make a virtual meet tough to put together.

2 Walmart management has officially informed us that they can not allow a meet of this size with current issues in mind. They welcomed us warmly prior to the Phase 2 extension and would love to have us after this crisis passes.

3 This meet requires extensive planning on most everyone's parts, from taking time off, to preparing cars, and to making travel and accommodation arrangements.

4 This decision could easily affect not only ourselves, but our communities, and families.

5 A virtual meet could be done worldwide, with Tshirts and everything else all the same, but not as a group.

So, using google forms, there is an official poll, please put your answers and thoughts there. Discussion is welcome on this thread, but officially, we will be looking at poll numbers to get a general consensus on how the community feels about this, and go from there. It does ask for an email address, we promise, we aren't using it for any nefarious purpose, and if you have attended, we probably already have it. You can even create a new one just for this. It makes it easier for us to count this way.

Please vote only once! Honor system applies.

Click this link for the form.

The Madness committee has consulted with the community and had much debate about the reality that is the Covid 19 pandemic. With 3 organizers in the "compromised" category, a lack of businesses willing to let us use their parking lots due to perceptions of large groups of people gathering, an uncertain future for what phase the state of NC will be in, or what the group gathering guidelines will be, and a large chunk of moral responsibility to be good members of our communities, we have decided the best avenue this year is to make the meet a Virtual Meet.

                              So, FMXIV will be Quaranstiva!

This isn't a bad thing! In fact, this will allow members of the community from all over the world to be part of what could easily be the largest international Festiva Madness ever! Planning for the event is still an ongoing process, but will include T Shirts, facemasks, Zoom meetings ( we have access to a business account thanks to a member,) Discord chats, youtube videos, photo posting and hosting, pod meets and so much more! Stayed tuned for more details that will begin rolling out by next weekend, and will be updated throughout the month of September.

It only takes one person to be part of the Madness at each location. If you would like to gather a FEW friends to a location near you, that would be fine as well. Please follow ALL local restrictions and guidelines for group gatherings. We would encourage you to make the gatherings to be of 10 people or less.

Also, plans are already in motion for FMXV, Stivastock! We already have a car that will be raffled off, A car that will be pulled apart on site for parts for attendees, and so much more!
