  • Northwest Meet

    Where: Fall City, WA

    When: June 10th, 10 am

    Come one, come all!
Its time for us rainy nor'westers to have a meet of our own!
It may be a bit of a stretch for the Cali members but if you're up for it, it would be a nice road trip.
For the B.C lower mainland members its a nice day trip!

A link of the meet area:http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=Fall+Ci...ed+States&z=16

We could meet and even do a nice scenic drive after.

Too much Traffic in Seattle. Fall City looks pretty nice, and the nice drive will be chalk full of photo ops.

Too many Anarchists in Seattle... I should be good on the school front, my parents are "thinking about it" so I'll probably have to drag a non festiva owner along, maybe we can convert them.

As I've told Scott, already, Fall City is a great place to have a Festiva meet. Snoqualmie Falls is fairly close for a little Festiva drive. They're having upgrades to the parking area right now, so hopefully parking won't be too chaotic...... altho Festivas can park nearly anywhere! Above The Falls, there is a close spot for a spectacular vertical view of the 3000 foot west wall of Mt. Si, which few tourists go to see, rising directly out of the flatland shelf, that the Snoqualmie river meanders thru, before its plunge at the Falls. If we are lucky, binoculars will show some of the mountain goats on the mountain. I have many binoculars that I will bring, so everyone will have the views they want to see.

The whole region around, including Fall City, Snoqualmie, & North Bend, had the place settings for the TV series 'Twin Peaks', many places & landscapes being used in the TV series.

If the day is sunny & bright, there should be great ops for superior photographs. If the day is cloudy, & even rainy, it will give the mood of the TV series which is a pleasure in itself!

In addition there is a small lucky chance to see the large elk herd that calls the area home. I've seen it twice & a third time saw one elk crossing the Snoqualmie River about 3/4ths of a mile from Mt. Si. There's a good Chinese restaurant in the town of Snoqualmie.

Been to Mt. Si twice since I wrote this. Both times I have seen 2 sets of mountain goats each time. Once, I saw 2 mother goats each with 1 kid, in different regions of the mountain. Another day, I saw individual goats on different parts of the mountain. Two of the viewings were very high on the mountain, at least 2000 feet above me.

If anyone wants to view the mountain go to Google Maps & select the Earth setting on the upper right hand side. If you know how to use the controls, type in Mt. Si, Washington & Google will take you there. Again, if you know the controls, you can go into a 3D view of the mountain & move around it, between the buttresses & over the mountain.

                      Nice!

To clarify there is decent sized parking lot at Fall City Community Park to initially meet in before the drive.

I've also talked a friend into coming along, not a Festiva, but a Mazda 2.

Coming from Spokane on I-90, as you approach North Bend, you can see Mt. Si on the right side. The views from I-90 should entice you to the views you will get even closer & on our Festiva drive.

I'm trying to remember; but, think I can visualize a place along a river good to park at, where there are wonderful sort of tumbling gentle rapids great for swimming.

A little like a roller coaster ride. Cold as hell probably that early in the summer; but totally worth it for the fun!

Sorry folks, probably off-topic; a little nostalgia for my old stomping grounds, about four decades ago.
