  • FM9 wrap -

Well not quite, because work continues in the garage and the yard, but just about over.

    Final info:
We ended up with 35 cars. The rain held off during the bulk of the actual meet although it started up again when we were trying to do group photos at the end.
Everyone asks about the awards so here goes.
Highest mileage to Otter daughter(Autumn) with 342,023
Lowest mileage to Jeremy and Jennifer from Chase City (not ff.com members although they will be after they get home. 102,082
Farthest traveled to Bolokid 2,815 miles.
Bad Luck award to thisvelologist (Ben) who had a run in with a Silverado that seriously crunched his right front and then blew his main fuseable link somewhere in WVA and it miraculously came back long enough for him to get to a parts store. If you have been following the facebook page, there are pictures of the resurrection of his car at Madness. I was awesome work. I am always astounded by what these guys can do.

I almost forgot, the Fan Favorite went to Lulu and the Best Beater went to Scitzz. If you weren't here, you might not get this, but they both campaigned for this. LOL

We did a Dean Allen award this year which went to skeeterskeeper for all he does for the community and then he showed (again) why he got the award with the masterful welding job he did on Ben's car.

We also started a new award called the DJ Hayek award for technical innovation and this year it went to Advancesdynamix.

I took hardly any pictures, but Warchild and bebandit took lots. We will get them posted up as soon as we can.

My Aqua car was resurrected on Friday with the donor engine from Kermit. Ben's car was pulled/cut apart and put back together. Cody (not ff.com) member had wipers fixed right front fixed, headlight replaced and I don't know what all. Louie had a timing belt done, I was told that Saturday evening there were 7 different projects going and I lost track of what was being done to who!!!

Many thanks to all for their efforts to make this a good meet despite the weather including ( and I will miss some) Scitzz, Warchild, Autumn, Danielle, Corrie for planning, preparing cooking food and cleaning among other things. I couldn't begin to name everyone who jumped in and helped with the car work, but the San Diego crew - Chris, Mitch and JC who convoyed with Charlie were awesome along with Bolokid and Doctiva, ottoparts, skeeterskeeper, britstiva, NC_festiva and many more.

Everyone always thanks me for putting on this meet, but without out the efforts of the planning committee and all those who attend, pitch in to help and lend their expertise, it wouldn't be the awesome meet it was. My thanks to everyone including those I have forgotten to name. Barb

    • This was an incredible experience. I'm am so glad I was able to make it. I am happy I got to meet all you geat people. Now that my car did the ~1000 round trip without a hitch, it wants a pieced together turbo kit. I'll oblige.

            • OK, I knew it I started naming names that I would forget people. I want to think AdvancedDynamix for making the cool trophys this year and Fecomatter for his hard work cleaning up Aqua Belle. She is beautiful.

                • Got home from Madness Central just in time to go to my part time job for a solid 8 hours! So I wanted to take a tired moment to say a couple of things about FM9.

                  Holy cow wow!

Seriously, I haven't felt a vibe quite as strong at one of these since FM3! Every Madness is special, but this one really knocked it out of the park!

The thing that makes these events so much fun isn't the cars, but the people that drive them. The feeling of camaraderie, of community, and the helping spirit. Egos stepping to the side, and everyone lending a hand to help someone else. Information and knowledge being shared freely from some of the greatest minds and hands I have ever met.

The tiring yet tireless work of many individuals this past weekend was nothing short of breath taking!

I consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to think of every member of this tiny and weird community my friend, my brother/sister in arms, hell, my family!

I would also like to thank some unsung heroes.

Of course, Barbara Allan (Smedley) is the guiding force for the planning committee, and our most gracious hostess with the mostest, the queen of the Festiva. My wife Sherry (Warchild) actually spends what is probably the most time and effort on planning things, and cooking at the event the last few years. She started buying and freezing food about 6 weeks out, and spent many hours cooking and freezing pulled pork to be ready for the meet. Ably helped by our (OtterDotter) Autumn Michele Winters, who, with her friend Danielle Stone stayed busy the entire weekend cooking, cleaning, running and fetching and generally making it possible for the rest of us to focus on what we were there for.

Jeremy Mullins (Britstiva) member of the planning committee, Aspire driver extraordinaire, and general all around clown, jumping back into Madness 9 with a vengeance after missing 8, getting down and dirty making sure Cody Silvers got his car right and tight and wiping water away again! Glad to have you back, my brother!

The always right Reverend John Jacks our missing brother in action this year, member of the planning committee and always a helping hand, missed this year but still active and helpful, keep it coming and MAKE IT TO 10! LOL!

Of course, a great big huge giant thanks to everyone that attended, to the Arizona/California crew Mitch Roberts JC Buhay Christopher Stauffer, to Tommy Tremains (Fecomatter), Charlie Whitney (AdvanceDynamix, like everyone didn't know that already) and anyone else I am not thinking of as I am tired for their work on the Project car, as well as those who so generously donated their money to the cause.

Thanks to Bob 2 and Bob 3 for reasons

Nate Jones, Steve Smith Chris Walther Dennis Foster and literally just about everyone else at some point or another for all their work on fixing up the car for Ben G. Rogers.

Holy cow again! Cant forget to thank Charlie yet again for the INCREDIBLE job he did on the trophies!

Last, but not least, to Brad Hazard (BHazard) for not noticing his sticker for so long! And to all of those who let me touch their pride and joy enough to put one on their car as well!

If I have forgotten someone, I apologize, and blame it on lack of sleep and Festiva Madness! Thanks to everyone for coming, and here is to Madness 10!

Remember, FestYboy is inflatable , and Scitzz means crazy, YO!
