FM9 wrap -
Well not quite, because work continues in the garage and the yard, but just about over.
Final info:
We ended up with 35 cars. The rain held off during the bulk of the actual meet although it started up again when we were trying to do group photos at the end.
Everyone asks about the awards so here goes.
Highest mileage to Otter daughter(Autumn) with 342,023
Lowest mileage to Jeremy and Jennifer from Chase City (not ff.com members although they will be after they get home. 102,082
Farthest traveled to Bolokid 2,815 miles.
Bad Luck award to thisvelologist (Ben) who had a run in with a Silverado that seriously crunched his right front and then blew his main fuseable link somewhere in WVA and it miraculously came back long enough for him to get to a parts store. If you have been following the facebook page, there are pictures of the resurrection of his car at Madness. I was awesome work. I am always astounded by what these guys can do.
I almost forgot, the Fan Favorite went to Lulu and the Best Beater went to Scitzz. If you weren't here, you might not get this, but they both campaigned for this. LOL
We did a Dean Allen award this year which went to skeeterskeeper for all he does for the community and then he showed (again) why he got the award with the masterful welding job he did on Ben's car.
We also started a new award called the DJ Hayek award for technical innovation and this year it went to Advancesdynamix.
I took hardly any pictures, but Warchild and bebandit took lots. We will get them posted up as soon as we can.
My Aqua car was resurrected on Friday with the donor engine from Kermit. Ben's car was pulled/cut apart and put back together. Cody (not ff.com) member had wipers fixed right front fixed, headlight replaced and I don't know what all. Louie had a timing belt done, I was told that Saturday evening there were 7 different projects going and I lost track of what was being done to who!!!
Many thanks to all for their efforts to make this a good meet despite the weather including ( and I will miss some) Scitzz, Warchild, Autumn, Danielle, Corrie for planning, preparing cooking food and cleaning among other things. I couldn't begin to name everyone who jumped in and helped with the car work, but the San Diego crew - Chris, Mitch and JC who convoyed with Charlie were awesome along with Bolokid and Doctiva, ottoparts, skeeterskeeper, britstiva, NC_festiva and many more.
Everyone always thanks me for putting on this meet, but without out the efforts of the planning committee and all those who attend, pitch in to help and lend their expertise, it wouldn't be the awesome meet it was. My thanks to everyone including those I have forgotten to name. Barb
