  • Contributing Members Group

How about an addition of a " contributing " or " sponsors " forum permissions group, i.e. members would gain access gained by opting to purchase a paid subscription to this particular group.

Members would gain special privileges over a regular non-paying member, perhaps :

Ability to buy a custom title ( and avoid the 500 post requirement ).

More PM storage space than regular member.

    ???

    Advantages:

Would give the people that do sign up, the feeling they are helping the forum in a way besides the norm.

Money collected could go towards costs to operate the site, or it could be saved to build a advertising fund for the forum, to be promoted in a popular car magazine.

The past board had 1,000+ members, if everyone contributed 10-20 bucks ( fast food money ) once a year, DJ/Simon could order a giant full page ad for the site/forum visible by millions ( after you factor in magazine sales and Internet redistribution/word of mouth ).

Even just 1 full-page color ad a year would make an incredible, over the top statement that we are proud of owning these cars.

    Just a thought.

lol i'm a tightwad and i'd pay to see that lol...a full page of festys in a magazine....might pave the way for future car features. Another idea would be to try to get free advertising in a mag...i know Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords does a feature on a car club website once a month...

hey...as a matter of fact charge $50 for it and throw in some FORDFESTIVA.com stickers... design some flyers, then ask everyone to print out a few and take them in the car...next time they see a festiva in a parking lot put it under the wiper...couldn't hurt to get even more people involved....

I think it's a good idea... Donating members get special rights to hidden forums, etc...

We'd need to setup some sort of way to keep track, I'm not sure that PHPBB offers it, but I can look and see...

We could opt to take off the 500 post limit for the Special Title, hidden forum, maybe a sticker depending on DJ's availability for them, etc...

DJ - Let's toss up some ideas and we'll see what we can create.

              good idea

Sounds like a winner to me. I'm not sure about hidden forums, tho. I'd be happy with a sticker

From other forums that I'm on that offer this sort of "feature", the hidden forums are basically an unmoderated, anything goes type thing... It's the place for those people to bitch about other members without moderator, porn, etc...

sounds great to me...but hey instead of a F.A.S.T. sticker how about just a nice clean fordfestiva.com sticker...it would help promote the website and it would be easy for anyone around town to remember...maybe with a small 3/4 pic of a festiva in front of it, or a silohette...i mean people see a F.A.S.T. sticker they will know wow there is a festiva club....they see a fordfestiva.com sticker the will be like hey there is a festiva club, and thats where i go to learn more about it.

                    OK, Let's get into this......

I gave away a bunch of fordfestiva.com decals at the festiva festival in '03...

but guys we need to back up for a second.. we need a few dedicated people to get involved.. no offense to anyone that is or has helped in the past, but I've tried this before and the few people that said they would take a position, really didn't have the time or inclination to really do anything. Talk is talk and so far only a couple of people have actually done anything.. Thanx Simon, Jeff, Dennis and the few others who have helped out..

Personally, I would like to set up custom titles for contributing members as well as decals etc. I would like to give paying members lookup access to my ford cds, but that's probably illegal..

As far as FAST, man that 1 is up in the air.. Anthony was trying to do something with it, but we haven't heard or seen much from him in a while.

Right now ff.com consists of Simon and myself with Jeff taking care of the FOTM. Jeff, chime in here if you want to step down and let someone else do the FOTM for lack of time etc.. Same goes for Anthony and FAST..

I would like to see certain members have control over certain areas of the site. As it is now, most of us have jobs, school, family or whatever, so no one person has time to do it all. The quickest way to get this place into shape is for those interested to take a small section and concentrate on that.

We also have to set up new mods for forums.. those that have been members of the old board for at least 6 months and want to be a mod contact Simon or myself. (newbies tend to disappear or lose interest)

I would really like Rich to be the repair help mod, but that's up to him. I would also like to change up the FOTM (once we get the gallery installed) to use the new poll feature... any other input would be appreciated..

As I said in the F.A.S.T. forum, I can have stickers cheaper than almost anyone here. There's almost no problem with colors and shipping. About the "link" to festiva.com, I forgot it but can be add anytime. The final size of the stickers are 3x11½ or something like this. A sticker with 2 colors is 15$ plus shipping CAN so for all of you US resident about 16$ with shipping USD (about 1$CAN for shipping plus the enveloppe). If I order a lot of them I can even have another reduction.

I volunteer to help too. I'm not that good in mechanic but I got a diploma in electronic and I'm good with computers. I also have a job with internet access an a lot of free time to surf
Is that a Festiva that just passed me?!?!?!

SHOULD have seen it years back when they did their B6T swap article.

The author never even brought up the site. Ridiculous.
