    hey guys i have a 1988 festy carb i tried to install a after maket cd player and got it workin the first shot only problen was that it stuck out alittle. one day my bright mind said if i change the nut in the back were the ground is it would fit better so i took it out changed the nut and put it in then nothing no power to the radio at all so i took it to best buy and replaced all the fuses but when i pluged everything back in i got power but no sound it sounded like static threw the speakers and the ground was getting hot enought to start a fire..... were did i go wrong and what do i need to do were do i put the grounds from the car and the radio so i dont blow up my car please help

    it sounds like you got a short somewhere check thet all your wires have no metal spots showing and that there is no little barbs in the wire that could be grounding it out.

      i took it out welded everthing properly then used liquide electrical tape around the weld so i know there was no prob there theres power remember just no sound it cost over 60 for them to install it at best buy

        like he said. sounds like a short. check your wires. i just put in another today. had power and staticy sorta but i had a wire on the speaker in my door that came loose and was grounding the whole system on the door. check it out bud. check against a wiring diagram.

            Def. sounds like a bad ground amongst the wiring, Or I have seen this before when the antenna is bent wrong or to far.. HOPEFULLY its just a wire loose somewhere easy to get to and easy fix.
