I'd be afraid to get a radio and linear nowadays. When we lived in Yuba City, Ca i lived next to a funeral home and i was talking skip one day and home director came knocking on my door. My voice was coming over their speakers during a funeral and it was freaking the people out. After he left, my wife and i were laughing so hard. Yea, sounds like your gonna have fun. I saw a couple of palamar 500 and 750 watts linear at garage sale but guy wanted too much for them. They are rare to find now. I use to go up on a hill with my car when i had cobra gt ssb with two 102" steel whips on back and talk skip. Farthest i got was Japan. Australia was easy

      ^Too funny ^

Italy was my farthest from my semi truck out in front of the house .
Australia and Jamaica was like talking next door , everybody heard you.

I used 2 hand made antennas that are copper wound, with a very large coil. I still have them .

When we all get out stuff hooked up , we will need to set a time and date and see if we can hear each other or communicate

I dont have mine anymore. All i have now is a small radioshack 40 channel that i plug into my cigerette lighter and use a magnetic antenna for when we go back to Iowa or down to Fort Worth, Tx. I know where Decatur is. Im originally from Davenport, IA. The last big radio i had was about two years ago. It was a Bearcat, SSB that i had taken to a CB shop and had 120 channels added. I guess ill have to start looking for another one at garage sales. My wife would probably kill me if i got another radio, course i could always put it in garage.

I'm glad to see it go to a good home.

I replaced the bearcat with a cobra 18wxstII. Has some really cool features, such as channel scan.

Tucked most of the wires out of the way, it's much smaller.

Still no one to talk to. Drove out to a hill last night, couldn't pick anything up with it. ppl just don't cb around here anymore. The bct8 was picking up the police in washington state just fine.

I want to get a firestik body mount to mount an antenna off my hatch.

I got some firestik ss-274 swivel mounts. I'm thinking im going to mount them off the rear lip of the pop windows in the back. Maybe feed the wire throught the window too. Dunno yet. Won't be able to mount them off the rear trunk on account of the festy trunk "capping" the whole rear of the car.
