BTW if anyone needs fitment info go to Crutchfield.com, as far as festivas go they use 4's in the front and 5's in the rear. 5's are not an aftermarket size 5 1/4 would be the nearest thing but some may not line up with all the screw holes. IT's been several years since I've replaced rear's in a fester but I seem too recall that. As for the 5 1/4's you can cut a hole in the speaker panel to surface mount them. most all new speakers come with grills and a template for cutout. then theres allways the option of building a rear deck and mounting 6x9's or whatever, Ihope this helps too clarify any questions.......ANYTIME

That's how I did my 5.25's on Techno, but the 4" Fosgates bolted right up in the back of Zippy..

i took off the door panels a while back and noticed a circle right about where you would want a speaker in the door:

        1. What sizes are these holes?

        2. Is it possible to mount speakers here?

        3. Has anybody done this?

I have speakers there. Don't do it. They're too close to the window cranks, if you run a good size speaker. You could mount a shallow 5 1/2 there, but what's the point? That's what size is in the dash.

            Make It Clean...

check this thread out, ive got 4"bolts up front (all stock speakers are 4" for those of you who keep saying 5 or whatever...) ive got an apline type-X component system in the rear deck, a pioneer 1000W class-d Mono amp (best amp ive ever had!) high end (not wal-mart) sony cd deck from many years ago when they first started doing the flip screens (and its still going strong) and two 10" sony subs... (long as you have a good amp they DO sound allright, not best, but VERY acceptable, ive got them wired at 2 Ohm right now)

with this setup and my crossovers properly set, i can turn my stereo literally all the way up and still have crisp clear highs without the bass distorting anything... the fronts could be better though, they do mumble a bit towards the top, but the 6.5" type-x system MORE than makes up for the crappy bolts lol...

4" in the front, 5" in the back, I pulled out my caliper to check before ordering speakers today.

I ended up ordering 5.25's for the back, as I planned to do custom grilling for better sound than the slots in the deck anyway.

Now I just need to find some of that sound dampening/heat reflecting material, and a trunk cover to nix some of the road noise that resonates from the hatch.

thanks for the caliper confirmation,I was pretty sure, as for the doors I ran a 6.5 inch component set in one years ago, just make sure of surface mounting depth.

not a prob. I've been pondering sticking 4"s in the corners of the dash on the top. If I end up selling my Lumina sedan to a junker I'll stripp the 6x4s and toss them in the back hatch area (need a wee bit more base for when I'm not listening to NPR on the radio), and one under each seat.

you can fit those 6.5s in the door panels quite easily, just might need a wood ring spacer under it for the more sizable speakers. and a fellow NPR junkie? hooraaay!

just replaced all 4 speakers... a little confusing the info on this board about speaker size. i can say for my 93, all 4 speakers fit a 4" speaker with standard mounting pattern. However, even though the rears have the holes setup for a 4" speaker, the actual stock speakers are a little larger than 4" diameter.

i decided to just go with new 4" Alpine speakers all around for consistency. sounds pretty wicked with a big amp and high pass filter and a sub. more than enough for my needs.

My plans for when I get my festy are to put a pair of 6.5" components (custom mounted in either the door or kicks. If I have to I will ditch the window cranks and put in an electric window kit) I will more than likely use (1) 10" sub. It will all be powered by my leftover amp (Precision Power PC6600). I should be able to put 50 wats to each tweeter(Audiobahn AT69), 75 to each mid-bass (Audiobahn AMD60Q) and 400 watts to the sub(Audiobahn AW1000N). Should be a decent system without adding too much weight. probably 40 - 50 lbs.

I don't know if I would by used stuff off there, but as for new car audio I'd say it can't be beaten.

it's where I got my speakers. saved about 5$ on each set, and saved another 5$ worth of gas that'ld I'd burn going to the stores that had them in stock.

So for my Aspire if I get some 5.25" speakers that are 2 1/8" bottom mount deep will they just screw right in?

Because honestly, I'm way too lazy to do anything custom. And it's sad driving around with a couple of walmart 6x9s laying in my hatch.
