Holy cow! I can't believe that was the problem. My friend was the one who hooked it all up (he's done it 100 times) so I just trusted it was right. Well they work now... Now I just have to tweak them to sound good. Thanks.

I was thinking the same thing as I was looking at the picture. I'm glad you got it taken care of.

Now if you really want to help those subs out. Get some real speaker wire not that chicken wire youre using now.
Clean up the top of that battery as well. Dirt is a major power drain.

I couldn't see any pics! Where did you ground? I've found that exiting the car and grounding to the frame works for me, but some people have called me crazy for that, but I use silicone to cover the assembly at the frame. I've also found that oversizing the gauge of the ground helps too, and buying the BEST wiring you can, no matter what the setup. Good wires on cheap speakers can sometimes sound the same as good speakers on crap wiring. Not saying you have cheap speakers; just being general.

your amp is shutting down because its not supplying the sub with enough power, i had 2 10"s hooked up to a kenwood 300 watt amp, didnt have an ounce of problem with that setup, then took the 2 tens out and put a 12" jl to it and same thing happened, worked great with no bass but as soon as it hit the amp would crap out and then regain then crap again when the bass came on, if you turn it down a little the amp would stay on, everything else worked fine and pioneer head unit

If you had read the thread or could see the pics he posted, youd have seen he had the power and rem wires crossed.

You wont regret going to a heavier gauge wire!

sorry to dig up old thread but figured it would be easier than starting a new one. The "rem" terminal, where does that have to be hooked to? Can I just use any wire for that or should I use a think one like the red one for the battery?

all that wire dose is turn on the amp when the radio tells it to.... on the back of the cd player there should be a wire that says somthing like remote or somthing on it... hook it to there but to make sure its the right wire test it with a volt meter, you should get 12V when the cd player is on and nothing when its off....

Rem stands for "remote" (I think) and is basically a .3 volt signal wire that tells the amp to turn on.........Sometimes I wire the amp such that it is always on, by bridging the rem and power wire (at the amp). I then go and put a switch on the power wire somewhere at the dash.

This is only suggestable when using a stock deck with no rem wire (old ones)

PS. I dont think you will get 12 volts out of the remote wire, as it should be only .3 volts total.........

Alright, well, with not having that hooked up, would my subs not work at all? I have it hooked to the battery, got it grounded, and hooked up to a speaker, and nothing plays, is it needing that wire to tell it to turn on and play?

That is correct.......It would be like hooking a light up to the power, and not turning on the switch. The rem wire is the "light switch"

ALSO, dont hook your amp up to a speaker. Your amp wants a non-amplified signal to amplify, and if you hook it up to a speaker, you will amplify an already amplified signal. This is not good for your amp. You need to get a line output converter. below is a link.
