Fuse or wiring problem

I have had my Kenwood deck in my 91 Ford Festiva L for quite a while. The 2 speakers in the back and the one in the middle compartment in the front have worked just fine. Now my deck has a protection mode and it just flashes Protect on the screen. I looked it up in my manual and it says that there could be a short circuit or speaker wires crossing or touching metal. I checked all of them where they hook up to the speakers and they are fine. I reset my deck and it happens again. I unplugged the battery, checked all the fuses, removed the deck and put it back in. Nothing. Also I noticed before that my Antennae for the radio wasnt working anymore. Just either bad static or it would come in fuzzy.


Before all of this lately out of nowhere my Belt fuse has been blowing. I replace it and it works for a while and eventually blows again. Now my fuse for the Belt is fine but the seat belts dont work. Could this be a problem along with above??

Some advice on what to do would be helpful. I am beginning to think that I should check all the wires in my car. Hopefully going to U Pull to look for some stuff. What should I watch out for?

An update on above ^. I disconnected my deck again and one by one I connected each speaker to my radio. So far I know my front right one and rear right one both work. My Rear left one is the one that triggers off my deck into "Protect" mode. Anyone maybe know why? How does that speaker wire run back through. I'm thinking I might have to just run a new one back to it.

use a 9volt battery and tap the speaker wires to it.the speaker should make a buzz noise. if it doesnt the wiring or the speaker is bad. as for the belts... if the wires are pinched they all might be in the same harness...

Haha. Pretty sure I found the problem. Under my carpet on my drivers side the wires are all melted together. My floor has a hole rusting through and it must have got wet and started melted all together. It is only a couple inches all melted together. Hoping I can just cut it out and re-wire everything back together and I'll do something to patch up the floor to prevent it from happening again.

Problem solved. This is what was also causing my fuses to blow and my seatbelts to stop working. now they work and my radio sounds great again.

Oh please say youre going to fix those wires properly and not just with electrical tape!

^ Yeah that could definitely be a fire hazard if not repaired correctly.

and it was more of a fire hazard before i did what i did to fix it.

^^ Yeah, but at least then you had the water already there to put it out.

Many a repair has been put off til tomorrow via the use of tape.

Electrical tape is a temporary fix. Solder and shrink tubing is what I'd do.

it will be just fine. not the first time i use electrical tape to fix wiring. im gonna wire nut it and then electrical tape over that later on. that will be my permanent fix for the wires. its the hole that i need to worry about fixing. for now i just put a rubber mat over the hole.
