don't EVER buy Boss. That is the first thing. They are a Pawn shop brand, and they always have been. 2nd, don't ever count on your deck for power. usually a 50wX4 is good enough, but if that isn't loud enough for you, you need and amp. In my aspire I'm running $40/pair Sony 5 1/2" 3 way speakers, and a 350w amp hooked to a single 12" sub in a square port bandpass, and trust me, you will NEVER need your car to be louder than mine is.

It seems that if you purchased BOSS in the first place, you are trying to do this on a budget correct?

Actually, I bought the stuff because both the speakers AND stereo were bought by or recommended to someone else on this forum, and didn't see anything in those threads advising against it. If I wouldn't have seen those threads, I probably would have bought something better right off the bat.

I can't blame them though, I should have done more research and looked around more.

I believe that 4" speakers the sound should be good .... only have to adjust to the configuration you want .. and truth, before buying you should consult a trusted expert in sound that is close from home. the good in Festy `s is that they are acoustic ...

not give up .. Also if you go to a car audio shop could help you with what you want!

I got the Kenwood unit today, and installed it. MUCH BETTER! I get as much volume as I did at 45 at around 15 to 20 now. The radio scan works a lot better too, and the display toggle actually works, instead of the thing randomly deciding whether to show the clock or song info... It also mounts flush with the cover, not sticking out half an inch.

yeah Shildir, next set of speakers you go after should have a rating of at least 92dB (like the infinitys). if you add a powered sub, you won't have to push the system as hard to get the same percieved volume. oh, and get some bass blockers on those speakers NOW (even the 6.5"s) i recomend no lower than 100Hz for the 4" and 60Hz for the 6.5s.

When I replace the 4" speakers, I will definitely be looking at the dB rating. And thanks for the Hz recommendations, I will be getting some bass blockers since the sound is still distorted around 35 and up.

Simply beautiful! That's what I'm looking to put in mine eventually. Not even going to waste my time putting in the Dual when it gets back. Shoot even the 20 year Profile cassette deck sounds better than it. Looking forward to sporting a Pioneer again.

I'd fix that exhaust first, then add some sound insulation. That helps alot in a Festiva. I have only two 6" rear speakers, and it gets plenty loud for me.
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

                            ^ +1 for Mark...
any kind of deadening material put in the hatch floor and front foot wells will greatly improve the sound quality and percieved volume.
