with our cars efficiency is key, so do some research on the speakers you're thinking of and if you want something to sould good you can't be affraid to spend some money, though it isn't always nessisary.

u can also save some power by installing hid headlights and led marker and turn lamps, makes a big differince and everything will be brighter and draw less amps, thats what i did and it helped the dimming problem alot.

i really need to do a write up of my stereo. u know its big if the sub and amp require a 4gauge wire for the voice coils.

^does not!! lol that's crazy, i've seen legit 4000W subs (we pushed over 15kW into them) and they weren't using 4ga to the coils, it might have only been 10ga at the most.

Deadening is something you really should address. Brand spankin new cars with walmart stereos sound great, and an old car with a maxed out credit card on equipment still isn't right.

^^i do agree, ever watch how much the body panels of a festiva flex with big stereo systems? Sound deadening will help dramatically and help keep the sound inside the car

Just swap the alternator with something larger to be safe, then run name brand speaker wire from Radioshack, vs. buying cheap off-brand junk that the insulation will rot off of and cause shorts. Then wire up an amp, some crossovers, 2 tweeters, 2 woofers, and 1 or 2 subs in the trunk. If you have a good amp and good speakers, the head unit can be any old walmart $40 sale CD/ iPod/ radio.

I do like putting a 10" glassed into the spare tire well. I've done this on more than one car and its so easy to seal up and sounds very nice. A decent 10" won't project to all the neighbors how loud you are but do you want your all your hard work stolen?
