If you want the CB to go further in the slot, you can unscrew the case, cut off the plug on the antenna cord, and solder the wires directly to the footprint of the connector. You can then cut it about 4" away from the CB and add a breakaway plug, so you can still route the wire before plugging it in. I could do this for you if you lived closer. I know a guy in SC who might be able to, though.

Edit- Looked at pics. You can just solder it if its routed.

      Thanks for the advice...
I actually only want it to go back a little bit and the L angle connector will fix this.
Where it is now, I can rest the heel of my hand on the top of the gear shift knob when in 5th gear when adjusting the dials. Might look better if farther in, but this works OK for me.

glad to see I'm not the only one with a cb. I was gonna post up about it sooner but I have some engine issues I'm dealing with. I suck my antenna same spot as you but opposite side, I trying jamming my little uniden into the ashtray slot but when I tested it, it had a lot of interferance with the heater on high. I mounted mine to the dash and ran the wires into the clock delete spot

          In love with a MadScientist!:thumbright:
There's a fine line between breathtaking ingenuity and "That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen!"
