An iPad Mini, or any other 7" tablet, is just about the perfect size for a Double DIN opening. I'm sure if there isn't already a product on the market, there will be shortly, to allow simple docking of an iPad Mini in your dash.

I like mighty car mods though, always entertaining and sometimes I find a good tip I haven't picked up before.

Yeah, including adaptability, mod selection, open source software, and a license that doesn't allow the manufacturer to claim ownership of the contents of your device...

But there's probably a good apple out there... somewhere.

I saw this the day it came out and thought about doing it, but there isn't anywhere in the dash to do it. Unless of course, you take out everything in the middle and relocate it.

If you can find a place to put it in the dash, where everybody can see it, and its still easily accessible for the driver, I'll copy what you do for my own car

the best arrangement i can think of is to move the climate control to the bottom (really, who uses it, it's a "set and forget" type of thing) and then utilize the space between the vents and the climate control.. as long as it fits and then you could also possibly find something with a push-lock so basically, you push the screen in and it unlocks and then you push again to lock the position, mainly for orientation purposes.

Something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-Swive...d6cb519&_uhb=1 but more "permanent" in the dash console area.

Best way to test this theory is to measure an ipad 1,2 or 3 with the surround of the centre area place it in front of the ipad.. if it's too big (ie, sits behind the surround and gives the impression of "frameless" then it's going to be permanent unless you can trim the centre of the surround to allow the ipad to "slide" in and out (making a shaped area for it to "house" itself).. possibly if there is something were not aware of that we can mount the locking swivel onto, in the centre section, then possibly we can work with something here..
