I guess I'm increasingly becoming an old fogey; I still long for push button radios where the only decision to make was whether to slide the centre knob to the right or left for AM or FM, and then which of 5 buttons to push. Very few drivers got distracted with this simple set up and chances of crashing through inattention were minimal. At the moment I'm picturing a driver sailing down the freeway at rush hour with tunes blaring while watching a porn movie and trying to text message back and forth in real time.

My mom said she once changed all her clothes on the way to some job while driving. She was younger then, and one of those artsy actress "freethinking" whacko types.
I'm old for my age, Bert. I like to not think about anything while I drive. Before head units with USB inputs were affordable, my typical setup was the stock radio tuned to one freq all the time, and USB stick reader/broadcaster of music set on random. Never ever touched it. FWIW, it didn't make me any safer of a driver.Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

Most of my cars don't have radios. Heck, I'll drive clear across country and back with nothing but the sounds of the road and the occasional whistled tune. However, I like this IPad/Tablet idea for an alternative to gauges or pricey data systems. I used to pay over 6 grand for stuff that can now be handled by a 150 dollar tablet. Also, RacePak and Aim haven't ever offered music or an internet browser in their devices. This is a huge bargain.Last edited by Advancedynamix; 06-07-2013, 08:20 AM.Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. exactly, and if you have OBD2 management (say from a Sephia BP swap) then you can buy an OBD2 port patch cord that will connect the car to the iPad and software that will simulate a dash as well as show diagnostics. Now, add in some Nav, wifi and garage band and you have a more optioned out festiva than most new BMW's!Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege.
