For the heat reason alone, I can't imagine a Ford, Mazda, or Kia engineer ever putting electronics in an enclosed plastic box. It's cool. I hope it works for you. But it's just not stock. I remember when DJ (R.I.P.) had his XPNSYD in his cubby.

It's not enclosed. The LX box is removable, just like this one.

Not that it's not removable. That it's a plastic box. There is nothing to screw the mounts into, and there is nowhere for heat to go to. I'll rest my case, but 2+2 = 5 on this one.

Gabe, the stock stereo is the same way. It fastens from the front and is held up by a screw on a rubber nub. It wouldn't be hard to snap that stereo in if there was a bracket that holds it in place in the rear.
Ah-Ha!!!!! There is a mounting system! Observe!

The back of the stock stereo on a Festiva is open. Free flowing air. you can reach up behind and touch it. From the back of the heater controls, to the cigarette lighter, it's not enclosed. It's all open. Installing electronics in a non-open sealed plastic box is a bad idea.

I know. What I'm saying is, the cubby comes out, and you're left with the shroud, which has mounting brackets that originally held the cubby, and is entirely open at the rear.

That stereo has a bracket that screws right up at the back of a boxless full console. I'll take pics when I install it. BTW I'll place an avella cup holder on the stock radio slot. It could be a dealer option though.

I got really high doubts about this.

This is NOT a north american option.

It looks like a europe or foreign radio.

I wonder if it would play CDs from another country?

Yeah definitely not, it could be Japanese or Australian but less likely to be Europian because it's too far from us .

Cassette tape is working as well as the radio but frequency is up to 90 only for the FM. I'm still playing with the settings though. CD player is not possibly because the lens is dirty .

Yeah I searched google, The FM broadcast band in Japan uses 76.0 to 90 MHz...

Actually it goes back to 76 after 90 .

That is a neat OEM radio, but it would probably be the first thing I would change despite the rarity of it

                            1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
                            1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Not sure because it's specific to the stereo.
