Alright, I had been debating BP all-motor, or BP turbo for weeks.... and when i saw an FE3 twincam swap show up on ebay I almost was tempted to try and be the first one to complete that swap (very similar to BP in a lot of ways, but better), but I have finally finalized my goals for the project.
I'll be doing a BP swap with G25MR trans, then a custom twin screw (if i can find a small one for cheap enough) or roots style supercharger mounted on the exhaust side ala the Jackson Racing Miata kit. I won't actually be using the JR kit, but using junkyard and ebay parts to assemble something very similar.
Not really planning on going too crazy at first, just 6 psi (with front mounted air-air intercooler) with an FMU and slightly bigger injectors. The blower will either be mounted above the header or down farther if the upper rad support proves to be too close to allow clearance.
As far as I know, no one has ever done a supercharged BP in a stiva before, and some might think I'm nuts for doing it, but I thought it would be cool to be the first, and these days an Eaton M45 goes for practically nothing on ebay, and since the rest is essentially just welding, i think it'll be a fun project.
Ultimate goals are a low 12 second festiva that can still pass NJ inspection and be a backup street car if necessary. In the first incarnation it'll probably only do low 13's but as more goes into it, it will get faster. I'm hoping to have something at least resembling a running car by the end of the summer, and I'll be sure to document it every step of the way for those few that might be interested.
