And I think I've read somewhere that the miata and 323 b6 engines
use the same block except for mount locations.

So what I'm asking is if anyone thinks it's possible just swapping parts to do a b6 swap into my 84 b2000?

Using the miata trans of course,
As usual any and all help is appreciated.

SOHC & DOHC will not swap.
B3 to b6 stuff, dunno about that

some of the engine parts will interchange, but I don't think the the B-series mazda trucks use the B-series mazda engines. I'm almost positive the 4 digits after the "B" on the trucks is the CCs of the engine, meaning the B2000 is a 2000cc engine, or 2.0L... so to answer your final question, no I don't think there is any easy way to put a mazda B3, B6, or BP into a B-series pickup truck

You know the mazda b series truck is the same as the older rangers?? You could do the 302/351W swap....

The parts from a B3/B6 sohc will interchange..

The dohc and sohc 1.8's share the same block and the head swap can be done by switching the water pump and adding a couple other parts

I don't know about the sohc 1.6 mx3/323/protege to miata/sephia dohc head swap.

The connecting rods are the same dimensions for the 1.6 dohcand 1.8 sohc/dohc

Why would you want to complete a swap that will result in less hp/tq numbers and decrease the liter siplacement from 2.0 to 1.6??? The only engine possiblity that would work would be the miata 1.6/1.8 with the corrisponding tranny. Your tranny won't mate to a b series engine....and the mount situation??

well, you would definitely need custom mounts, since the B6 and B3 was never in the B series trucks. It could be done I guess, dunno if you will be able to find/fabricate a driveshaft that would mate the miata trans to the rear axle of the truck though. And if you did use a B6 you would have to have one from a miata (or at least swap on a miata oil pan and intake/exhaust manifolds and probably the whole head to make the engine work in an RWD application)...

And on a side note, I don't think the '84 B-series were the same as the rangers, I think the merge of those two vehicles onto the same platforn came in the later 80s... could be wrong though, I'm not a big truck guy, though I did almost buy an '86 B2200 though, and it was nothing like a ranger.

1994 the B-series became a rebadged Ranger, built in Edison, NJ. Prior to that, it was a Mazda engineered and built vehicle. 2.0 and 2.2 engine were, I think, FE series...

yes Jim, did a little research after that post I made last night... '94 and up are the ford/mazda ones, and 2.0 and 2.2 were the mazda ones, FE series. So you are, as usual, correct

You know they made a carbed BP overseas? That way you wouldn't have to go to the trouble to find out whether or not the sohc 8 valve head will fit on a miata block which is 16 valve. I'm pretty sure that a piston with 4 valve cuts in it won't go together with a head that has 1 exhaust and one intake valve. But i could be wrong.
