      i just cut mine and welded a bolt in, it works good. i just need to add a little bracing, i only used a 1/4 inch thick bolt... it shifts nice, im happy with the results

        i just got a early chevy sprint shifter to fit in to my festiva. i chopped off the bottom and stuck about a inch in to the space, then welded crush washers in place as the spacers/ bushings (only because i forgot to take out the plastic bushing before i welded and melted the poop out of them lol) and it works perfect.
